The siesta custom is observed strongly in Salta and many businesses, including most of the museums, shut down from about 1 to 4. This is hardly surprising given the heat in Salta and it´s one local custom that is werll worthwhile adopting.

In Salta, like in the rest of Argentina, the young people have to wear a uniform to go to school...Each school has its own uniform, so you can see many different in the street! And I loved that!!! I never saw so many girls in uniform of my life!!!! And my favourite was this one : a scottisch mini-skirt (you can imagine that boys like that too!!) and long socks!

    Yerba Mate

by JKSmithPE Updated Apr 4, 2011

In Argentina they drink the green tea called "Yerba Mate" or Mate Herb - it's not really tea, but it is a good stimulant like tea or coffee - I still drink it. You can find it on the the internet now. Great stuff - Healthy too!
