Unfortunately, corruption is widespread in Argentina.,and Tucuman is not an exception. Some people will try to rip you off when buying something, specially if you're a foreigner. They'll either try to increase the price or tell you that the price is in US dollars. So, always ask prices beforehand, and all the prices you see on the labels are in pesos.

Awful traffic

It's hard to admit it, but unfortunately it's true. Tucumanos are not very organized as regards traffic, specially in the downtown area. If you visit Tucuman by car, be patient and pay attention to all directions because cyclists, motorcyclists or other car drivers can swap lanes when you least expect it.

Rush hours are from 7:00-9:00am, 12:00-1:30pm and 6:00-9:00pm.

Downtown Tucuman is generally full of people, specially during working hours. If you're visiting the area, try to keep an eye on your belongings, specially your wallet.
