Puerto Pirámides Off The Beaten Path

The local fauna in Península Valdés is not only integrated by whales and elephant seals; the esrthling fauna is very interesting, too, but it is more difficult to watch. When you ride the roads of Península Valdés (or another Patagonian places), look carefully among the broshwood and you will find maras (Patagonian hares), choiques (small American ostriches), guanacos (an animal like a llama).

La fauna local en Península Valdés no sólo está integrada por ballenas y elefantes marinos; la fauna terrestre es muy interesante también, aunque es más difícil de observar. Cuando recorran los caminos de Península Valdés, (u otros lugares de la Patagonia), observen cuidadosamente entre las vegetación y encontrarán maras (liebres patagónicas), choiques (ñandú petiso), guanacos.

The seagulls are common inhabitants in all the beaches of the world, and Puerto Pirámides is not an exception; the oddity is the behaviour of these birds: during the "whale season" (from May to December), seagulls fly over the whales and sting them, to eat their fat!

Las gaviotas son habitantes comunes de todas las playas del mundo, y Puerto Pirámides no es la excepción; la particularidad es el comportamiento de esta aves: durante la temporada de las ballenas (desde mayo a diciembre), las gaviotas sobrevuelan las ballenas y las picotean para comer su grasa!
