Arranged our trip to Punta Tombo with this tour operator. Picked up from our hotel on time, a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful guide (Sebastian) and a professionally organised and very memorable day out for us.
Trelew to El Bolson
Trelew is something of a transport hub for Patagonia and has many onward connections. After two days in the rain in Trelew, we were more than ready to move on, so we took an overnight bus to El Bolson, in the heart of Patagonia.
This was an 11 hour bus journey, which cost 137 pesos, and for once we slept very well. We travelled with Mar y Valle, whom I would highly recommend. We had a roast chicken dinner, a very helpful attendant, comfortable seats and a good breakfast. And it's difficult to beat waking up to the snow-covered Patagonian Andes.
We had a short stop-over at the airport of Trelew,in order to fill up fuel, and when approaching Trelew, all that we could see was a small village of low houses, surrounded by endless landscapes with just a very few roads.
Aerolineas Argentinas flew us to Trelew from Buenos Aires, flight time around 1 hour 40 min. One flight operated by their partner "Austral".
Taxi into Trelew around 30 Peso (Nov 2010)
