El Tenedor: All you can eat
El Tenedor is a good restaurant where you have the all-you-can-eat style. Now, this doesn't mean that the food is bad. In fact, it's quite good, and the salad bar is very reasonable.
For Ar$16 you can have all the meat (in its various ways), chicken, spaghettis, fries and milanesas that you want. The menu doesn't include neither drinks (Ar$2 for a coke) nor desserts (Ar$3 for ice cream).
Favorite Dish: I ate the usual "bife chorizo" and also the argentinian "suprema". Both were quite good

La Chacha: Meat & Pasta
La Chacha has a good mixture of different meats and good pasta. They've got great trout plates, plus deer and jabali. There's also regular meat (as in cow). Try the deer. It's exquisite.
Favorite Dish: The gnocci and the deer are great.
Mendieta: One of the best
Mendieta is one of the best restaurants I've been to in San Martin. It has great plates, good wines and excellent, and I mean EXCELLENT, attention.
Favorite Dish: I ate a lomo (steak) with Nochebuena salad. Never had salad with oranges, but it's quite good I must say
La Pierrade: Delicious Smoked Trout
Like most of SM de los Andes restaurants, this is like a wooden hut, very cozy and warm.
It's got a terrace with a great view of the mountains, but it gets cold at nights.
Favorite Dish: Grilled trout with lemon sauce and mashed potatoes.

Avataras: Sophisticated Ethnic Food
Avataras is a very special place to taste special flavours. The place is very cousy and nicely decorated with a well supplied wine bar and cigar area where you can relax before heading to the table. The owners are a bunch of great young people that know how to take care of their customers. The menu includes ethnic dishes from all around the world for the more sophisticated like Indian lamb curry, wild boar with juniper berry sauce, Malaysian shrimp sambal and Scandinavian gravlax.
It definitely worths a visit.
Favorite Dish: Their Thai food.
Malbec red wines
La Chacha: A good place with a huge menu
La Chacha is a more familiar place with excellent service and food. Although not finely decorated like other more sophisticated establishments, La Chacha is a not miss choice which is usually packed with customers.
Favorite Dish: Matambrito a la pizza (tender side beef with tomato sauce and melted cheese) or Patagonic lamb.
Dessert: Malena cup.
El Regional: Tough and worth to find
This is a small and simple place that is basically a store that sells regional edible products like smoked meats (venison, trout and wild pig), mushrooms, cheese, etc. However, you can have dinner here choosing from only 2 main courses: venison or trout. The food is great as well as the service.
Favorite Dish: Trout sauteed in black butter with capers and potatoes. Then the warm chocolate cake with wild berries and ice cream.

La Reserva: Cozy place + fine dinning
This is another restaurant that I like a lot. It is built in stone and wood with a fireplace, elegant decoration, pleasant ambience and good service. May be a more romantic spot to take your loved one.
Favorite Dish: Try the tapas as entree and then the venison with fresh berry sauce.

Pizzeria la Nonna
Pizzeria la Nonna is one of the best pizzerias we ate at in all of Argentina. The pizzas were delicious, as were the side orders like empanadas, the service was excellent, and the prices were cheap (certainly for San Martin de los Andes). We spent a week in and around San Martin and by the end of the week most of the waitresses knew us as we'd been in so often. They also operate a take-away service - perfect for those hot summer days in San Martin.
La Tasca: #1 in my list
Wherever you ask, everybody will agree that you have to eat at La Tasca. The food is excellent and the place is nicely decorated.
Favorite Dish: Jabalí (Wild pig) with potatoes, dry tomatoes and wild fungi.
