On the way to Hua Hum, you'll encounter Playa Escondida (Hidden Beach). The Lacar lake in particular doesn't have many beaches. The mountains go deep into the water very abruptly, leaving no chance for beaches. Anyhow, there are some beaches, and Playa Escondida is one of them.

  • Lacar Lake

The Lakar lake is the lake that you can see from San Martin. Is a big lake and quite cold. It's also the first lake of the 7-lake route. I you want to see it from above, take the route to the top, from the costanera to your left. Once you arrive at the old hotel, turn right, and continue your trail. You'll encounter beautiful spots from where...

  • Just walk

San Martín de los Andes is a very charming and "walkable" town: nice houses, beautiful gardens, surrounded by an awesome landscape, invite to walk along its streets. I found these interesting sculptures made of wood in a garden; I do not know if it was a public exhibition or a private collection, but I liked them, so I took the picture.San Martín...

  • Meat & Pasta

La Chacha has a good mixture of different meats and good pasta. They've got great trout plates, plus deer and jabali. There's also regular meat (as in cow). Try the deer. It's exquisite. The gnocci and the deer are great.

  • Pizzeria la Nonna

Pizzeria la Nonna is one of the best pizzerias we ate at in all of Argentina. The pizzas were delicious, as were the side orders like empanadas, the service was excellent, and the prices were cheap (certainly for San Martin de los Andes). We spent a week in and around San Martin and by the end of the week most of the waitresses knew us as we'd been...

  • Cozy place + fine dinning

This is another restaurant that I like a lot. It is built in stone and wood with a fireplace, elegant decoration, pleasant ambience and good service. May be a more romantic spot to take your loved one. Try the tapas as entree and then the venison with fresh berry sauce.

  • Tough and worth to find

This is a small and simple place that is basically a store that sells regional edible products like smoked meats (venison, trout and wild pig), mushrooms, cheese, etc. However, you can have dinner here choosing from only 2 main courses: venison or trout. The food is great as well as the service. Trout sauteed in black butter with capers and...

  • Delicious Smoked Trout

Like most of SM de los Andes restaurants, this is like a wooden hut, very cozy and warm. It's got a terrace with a great view of the mountains, but it gets cold at nights. Grilled trout with lemon sauce and mashed potatoes.

  • A good place with a huge menu

La Chacha is a more familiar place with excellent service and food. Although not finely decorated like other more sophisticated establishments, La Chacha is a not miss choice which is usually packed with customers. Matambrito a la pizza (tender side beef with tomato sauce and melted cheese) or Patagonic lamb. Dessert: Malena cup.

Avataras is a very special place to taste special flavours. 4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

First of all, this pub is at the top of a hill, so the view of San Martin is quite beautiful. Second, the place is great. Good beer, good decoration and amazingly beautiful girls.

Dress Code: No shorts. Remeber that argentinians do dress out to go out.
