Bar 6: Get a cab and go!

by ibawaya

Bar 6 is a small restaurant in Palermo that might deceive you if you were to walk in the door, which you can't really do because you need a reservation, then on arrival they buzz you in. There are couches around low tables, and a few dining tables in the front. It seems like a very casual hangout, but the food is beautifully prepared, and the young staff are knowledgeable. Pardon the cliche, but in Bar 6 I had the best steak I have ever had. It was a rib eye (ojo de bife) in a light red wine sauce. The steak was perfectly cooked, medium rare and tender, and the sauce was a true reduction with some red wine and garlic added. You have a choice of about 5 sauces if you order steak. I don't care for sauces in general when I eat steak, and this was very simple.

Te Mataras Ramirez: Sexy and delicious

by ibawaya

The only aphrodisiac restaurant I've visited! We went on a Thursday evening when live jazz was advertised, and were treated to a performance by an attractive woman who was singing lounge act classics and dancing sensuously. The whole restaurant is dark except the stage and the candles at the tables. Our waitress took us in hand expertly and suggested our orders and our wine. We were open to it! My husband had the house specialty, a thai style steak stir fry, and I had a chicken "pasta" dish which was wonderful, unlike anything I've had before. The food was exquisite. All the dishes have sensuous creative names; unfortunately I cannot remember the name of my dish or how it was prepared, only that it was unusual and perfect!

Eat Steak and Drink the Local Wine

by tampa_shawn

The steak in Argentina is the best in the world and is relatively inexpensive. They ate dinner too late for me, so I normally had steak and a bottle of wine in a local cafe for dinner. The Cafes are often men's territory and smoke filled but the food is good, the service is fast and they always seem open for business. I found a bottle of wine was less expensive than a small bottle of water. . I can be pretty picky about wine, but I never had a bad house wine my entire stay! and what a great excuse to drink wine with every meal

Pilgrim Celtic Pub and Restaurant: A Celtic pub in Argentina!?!

by bkathryn

I have to mention this restaurant since it was one of the few I actually got to at least twice during my short week in Bariloche in November 2001! As I don't actually have a picture of the restaurant, the picture is of the Civico Centro in Bariloche. The idea of a Celtic pub in South America was somewhat intriguing to us. The beer was very good as was the food.

Amancay Hotel: Another BBQ!

by bkathryn

While we were on our field trip south of Bariloche, in 1997, we had a long, extensive lunch at a place in El Bolsón - more BBQ. I think the place was called Amancay Hotel. It was, as usual, wonderful.

El Boliche Veijo: BBQ Argentine-style!

by bkathryn

We went to El Boliche Veijo in Bariloche when I was there in 1997. It was a BBQ place that was built in a ranch house that had been a hide out for USA-American outlaws, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, when they took off to South America. Who knows? The food was great!

a little upscale, but not in price, facing the statue of san martin. To the right one sees the grandiose mansion of circulo militar, an earlier military barracks historically was there. Ambience is good and sitting at the window gives one a look at the passers by Cafe con LecheMedia Luna

Le Estanzia: Le Estanzia

I could't believe the quality of the service and food for such a great price! It cost about 7 pesos for a 5 course meal. I'm still not sure what it was but it looked like the greatest steak I had ever had!

This is Pietro's Cafe in EL Calafate, where you can have a nice cup of coffee. When we travelled Patagonia we met with friends at this place and had a great time visiting the Perito Moreno Glacier and Torres del Paine.
