This place is a great place to hang out and eat pizza. It has great 'onda' (feel) and good background music. They often have tributes to certain groups (Police, U2). They also have live Jazz on certain nights. Great hang out place. Great Pizza (Mozzarella and Jamon Crudo) -

I recommend Cafe Aconcagua not becuase it serves sensational food, or because the service is great. It is just the first place that my fiance (Melanie) and I encountered a menu in Spanish. We were confused at first, but struggled through it to order a tasty cafe con leche and sandwich milanese.Cafe Aconcagua is not aimed at the tourist market, as many cafes in San Telmo barrio are. It is there for its local customers. I loved it! The medialunas and cafe con leche first thing in the morning.

There are many excellent restaurants in Buenos Aires. Be sure to go an authenitc asado. During lunch is a good time as the prices are less than at dinner. Remember, Argentines eat at odd times of the day compared to the rest of the world! Check it out! I love the meat -- it is the best in the world! Lomo is the best but they are all delicious. Also, I like the ensalada mixta and the papas fritas!

by gabriellefox

We mainly ate at the hotel but food bargains can be had in the suburbs of La Boca and San Telmo. Downtown, Lavalle and Avenida Corrientes are the places to go for pizza, coffee with the city's intellectuals or one of those ubiquitous meaty dishes. The food was fantastic and I was told off for putting on weight! Steak and chips with onion rings and mushrooms. Yummy!

Don_Bodie's Restaurant Tip

by Don_Bodie

The People of Argentina will cart this stuff around with them to drink on the road or on a hike or wherever. It's best when shared, and it's a wonderful tradition of Argentina. MateIf you're not staying with a family at all, or you don't know anyone who lives there, make it a point to try mate. Pronounced (mah-tay) in yanqui, it's a tea that you drink with a metal straw-like instrument called a bombilla. Argentines can make wonderful mate, but I've been experimenting myself back home. cheers!
