Chairlift to Cero Campanario

by patagoniapaul

This chairlift at KM 17 on Cirquito Chico takes you to the top of Cerro Capanario for a awesome view across the Seven-Lakes area. Be warned, though, I can be very cold! We were up there in a howling wind which spoilt it a little. There is a restaurant on top but we were warned that it is very pricy, so we didn't try it.

The Fitz Roy Range

by Waxbag

The Fitz Roy Range is one of the most fantastical of mountain ranges in the world. It is one of the most magestic and omnious mountain range I have ever seen. It is part of the northern end of the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares and one of the best places in South America for trekking and mountain climbing. Behind the range is the continental ice shelf that is the third largest in the world.El Chalten is the small town from which you can base all of your walks and climbs. It has good accomodation and basic supplies for your stay. The town is easily accessible by bus from El Calafate. There are no entrance fees to the park here like in the south to see the Perito Morino Glacier. This is the view you get from the bus to El Chalten from El Calafate. The approach to El Chalten is magnificent.

A train ride to Iguazu Falls - SPECTACULAR!

by bairestraveler

I've just come back from a weekend at Iguazu falls and it was absolutely wonderful. I flew with Aerolineas and I wasnt disappointed - arrived in the morning and left in the evening the following day. I had heard a lot about people only going for a night, there not being much to do etc etc and now I cant believe I didnt go sooner. It was truly MAGNIFICENT. I've been to Niagra, and these were far superior... a spectacular sight of a series of falls (over 200 in total!) ranging from 60m to 80m high. The moment I arrived in Misiones until I left I wasn't disappointed and what better way to arrive than on a train that leaves you literally in the middle of the falls! In actual fact I think that 2 days gazing at falls is a real compliment to an absolutely magnificent site, I'm now tempted to experience it from the Brazilian side..!

puente del inca

by hanspeter_W.

Crowds of people travel miles out of their way every day to visit this magnificent piece of Argentina’s past – Puente del Inca. The “Bridge of the Inca” as it is called, is exactly that, a bridge. However, I highly doubt that you will find another bridge quite like this one on your travels.Evidence of the past lives of the Incan people has been left all over the vast South American lands. But this bridge is particular to Argentina and it is a common destination full of history. It sits at about 2700 m above sea level but is only a few kilometers away from the extraordinary Andes Mountains and the highest peak in the western hemisphere – Mount Aconcagua. The second I stepped onto the arid grounds leading up to the bridge I was intrigued. A line of tents were set up from the bus drop-off spot all the way to the very edge of the viewing areas. Beneath these tents one could buy every form of...

buenos aires - capital of argentina

by hanspeter_W.

Buenos Aires is the capital, and largest city, of Argentina, currently the second-largest metropolitan area in South America, after São Paulo. It is located on the southern shore of the Río de la Plata, on the southeastern coast of the South American continent. The city of Buenos Aires is not part of Buenos Aires Province, nor is it its capital; rather, it is an autonomous federal district. Greater Buenos Aires is the fourth-largest conurbation in Latin America, with a population of around 13 million.[1] Buenos Aires is considered as the richest city in South America and the Southern Hemisphere and an Alpha World City listed by the Loughborough University group's (GaWC) 2008 inventory.[2]After the internal conflicts of the 19th century, Buenos Aires was federalised and removed from Buenos Aires Province in 1880. The city limits were enlarged to include the former towns of Belgrano and...

Paragliding

by Martinita

Paragliding – you have to do it at least once in your lifetime because it is such a wonderful experience! So why don’t do it in Mendoza? I went paragliding with the travel agency Kahuak (www.kahuak.com.ar) for 250 Argentine Pesos which is a great price compared with what you pay in Europe for example…We were picked up in the morning and brought up a mountain close to Mendoza where our guides arranged everything to start the adventure. Before taking off they gave us a security instruction and explained us what we’ll have to do while flying. A few minutes later we were ready and started our little adventure! We flew over the mountains, did circles, got higher and higher and had a great view over Mendoza and its surroundings… the feeling of flying is just too good! Unfortunately, time passed by so fast as always and 30 minutes later we were back on solid ground. I would do it again right...

Wineries Bike Tour in Mendoza

by Martinita

One of the things you definitely have to do when you are in Mendoza is visiting a few wineries by bicycle. It is a must do! The easiest way to get a tour like that is to book one directly with an agency, as I did it as well, because you don’t have to organize neither how to get the bikes or how to get around, nor which wineries you can visit.I chose Kahuak Aventura (www.kahuak.com.ar, Mendoza) and was really happy with them. Although two friends of mine and me decided really spontaneously around 7 pm the day before to go on a wine tour, it was still possible to do the tour the next day. The next morning, we were punctually picked up and on the way to where we would start the tour our guide told us interesting things about Mendoza, the wineries and the Andes. After half an hour we got out of the car and could start our bicycle tour. The bicycles we got were in good shape and after a few...

MY TOP THINGS TO DO IN BUENOS AIRES

by jumpingnorman

Lots of stuff to do in Buenos Aires. I liked modern and cosmopolitan Puerto Madero where they have a very nice bridge that some say looks like it's dancing the Tango...and talking about Tango, yes you do have to see a Tango show. And then they do have an outdoor crafts market/fair at San Telmo on Sundays, and also enjoy walking around palermo Park where you will see the skill of dog walkers walking ten dogs! But watch your steps - poop on the road. Then of course, go see Evita - her grave which is surprisingly small but outshining the bigger ones because of her celebrity status - her grave is at Recoleta Cemetery. Also see the Obelisko which is near the Plaza Mayor where they have demonstrations on Fridays/weekends. I witnessed one and it was interesting and I saw someone throw a bottle at a bank - but not trying to hit people, just the bank. And while you're at that area, walk over to...
