To far to walk

by kyoub

Where we were staying was not in town so we soon realized that we needed some wheels to get us around. The owner of our cottage took us to Localiza to get a car. It was around $50 per day. Driving around Ushuaia wasn't much of a problem. Figuring out which way to go downtown wasn't easy sometimes. We dropped the car off at the airport when we left.

Soon come

by kyoub

We flew from Ushuaia to El Calafate on the Aerolines Argentina. I don't know if they always fly behind schedule but they were 4 hours late arriving at the Ushuaia airport. They did make up some time on the flight because we got there in less than an hour. They also served a drink and snack in flight. The Ushuaia airport was nice and clean but the few shops were closed. I took pictures of the mountains.

Airlines of Argentina-Aerolineas Argentinas

by sinequanon

Aerolineas Argentinas is the national carrier of Argentina. It flies to several destinations outside Argentina and almost everywhere inside the country. It could well be the cheapest airline to get to Argentina, I was told 670 USD off season and this is CHEAP.The advantage of flying Aerolineas Argentinas into Argentina is that when you wish to travel inside Argentina you get the same price as Argentinians themselves. If you do not then you have to pay double price. For example the price I paid for LADE from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires was 450 pesos (a little over 100 Euros). The same trip (without the stops) with Aerolineas was 950 pesos. The advantage is that it flies every day and to and from popular destinations more times than once per day.

Airlines of Argentina-LADE

by sinequanon

LADE which is the State Airforce Airline (no do not get excited, you do not fly in an army aircraft) which flies to certain destinations at distinct days of the week and operates like a bus. For example, the one I flew with made four stops before it reached Buenos Aires. It started out in Ushuaia, made a stop in Calafate, Comodoro Rivadavia, Mar del Plata and Buenos Aires. The service is basic but good (not too many frills which suits me fine), there is sandwiches and beverages at EVERY stop and it is a cheap and efficient way to travel around the country sometimes even cheaper than buses. The only problem may be that it does not have services every day. Book in advance as it gets filled up quite quickly. If you cannot help it there is also the possibility to be on the waiting list and get a seat. Better book early though to be on the safe side especially at peak tourist season.

Wake Up, Your Here....

by mitscherman

There are many bus companies to chose from but for long journeys over 4 hours, I recommend Crucero del Norte and Via Bariloche. If you have the time, it's like flying, only cheaper. You can chose from semi-cama (economy), cama (business), and super-cama (first-class). Meals and beverages are included in the price of the ticket and the ride is quite comfortable. Book early to ensure seats are available.

Retiro Bus Terminal

by Porteno

This is he main web site for the Retiro and it has an interactive map so if you need to know which bus lines serve say Buenos Aires to Mendoza you simple click on the area for the province of Mendoza and a chart will come up with all the bus lines with service. Address is Av. Antártida Argentina y Calle 10

A unique way of visiting N.Argentina

by Luchonda

I saw this truck many times in the Salta area and was fascinatedThere slogan : "travel different with the "Movi Track" transporter"The particular condition of the mountain roads in northern Argentina and traveling with those special types of vehicles must be a unique style of traveling. In fact a rolling hotel with 24hr service and all facilities. The central booking agency is located in Salta.

just a car

by phyll

If you are planning to travel accross Argentina, forget the train, the plane, the bus... take the car. We rent a car in Bs As, and drove 7980 kms to Ushuaia; first longing the Atlantic coast, until Puerto Madryn, then crossing the country towards Esquel/Bariloche, and finally driving on the routa 40 to Ushuaia. It is, for me, the best way to discover this country, since you can go anywhere you want, you can take some people on the road who just need a ride. You learn and discover a lot like this! And the most important: you can go to places that don't appear on any travel guide, or to places so away from everything that no bus go... and that is really the best in a trip!

Aerolines Argentina or Austral

by Luchonda

Aerolines Argentina/Austral are the worst airline i ever took. The service on board is bad, no extra drinks during a 09 hour flight, the stewards vanish after serving meals.Even more, the timeschedule is never kept. Delays are standard procedure, a morning flight from BsAs to Cordoba, foreseen in the morning is rescheduled till late afternoon without noticeMy second picture is showing a direction pole at the BsAs international airport, ready to take a 9 hours flight back to Europe :- Roma to the left- Madrid and Paris to the right- But Miami aswell, to the rightA LOL my Latin American travellers, but just a confirmation about my satisfaction index of this Airoline. Take it , no other choice, but enlarge your time table and connection flights
