Beware when you arrives to...

by Cheewa

Beware when you arrives to Buenos Aires airports. You will aborded by guys offering taxo services, but some of them are not good guys. So, just say Thanks, I have reservation; and go until the TAXI OFFICES or REMISSES (fixed price trips), like SAN MARTIN, ECUADOR, or TIENDA LEON. It's more expensive than others; but it's safe for you.Of course you could call me if you have any problem. Really it's ok. But send me an e-mail before your arrival. (I'm not conected to the net 24hs a day heheh)

When you´re arriving to Ezeiza...

When you´re arriving to Ezeiza airport, take a bus to the city center from Manuel tienda Leon Company. They will lead you from the airport to the center.Never take a taxi at the airport!! Apart from being expensive, you must probably get robbed. It´s better to take a remise. They are particular cars, cheaper and safer than a taxi. They will lead you to the city center by $25- 30.-

DO NOT TAKE CABS OUTSIDE ANY PLACE.ALWAYS TAKE A 'REMISE' WHICH IS 100% OPERATED BY PARTICULARS WHO USE THEIR OWN CARS TO GIVE TAXI SERVICE.MOST ARGENTINIANS WARNED US ABOUT FLAGGIN A CAB OR TAKING ONE OF THE ONES OUTSIDE THE AIRPORT, RAILDROAD STATION OR ELSE.SEVERAL PEOPLE TOLD US TERRIFING STORIES.WE DID NOT RUN AGAINS ANY PROBLEMS, EVEN WALKED DURING SOME STREETS VER LATE, BUT STAY CLOSE TO LIGHTS AND PEOPLE.I DIDN'T THINK BUENOS AIRES WAS THAT BAD AS LOCALS TOLD ME, I STILL THINK MEXICO CITY IS AWFULLY WORST, BUT ONE GOT TO LISTEN TO LOCALS, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SENSE THEY MEAN WELL.

When arriving at the Izezia Airport in Buenos Aires, you MUST take an official taxi from the airport to your hotel. The cost is about 40-45 pesos to go downtown. Because of the difficult economic times, there a few of the small time crooks who are using unofficial taxis to lure unsuspecting travellers.

PATAGONIAN WINDS: always pay...

by 4x4southtrip

PATAGONIAN WINDS: always pay attention to the wind. Especially in Route 40 you could find gusts of 100Km per hour or more. Drive at a safe speed. If you are riding over gravel and the wind is coming from your side, the car will 'navigate' over the road. Be careful when opening the doors if the wind comes from the rear. The door handles could be pulled out from your hand violently. Heading the car to the wind will require some extra effort when opening a door, but it would be safer.

GRAVEL ROADS: If you are not...

by 4x4southtrip

GRAVEL ROADS: If you are not familiar in driving over gravel, you must be very careful. Accelerating, braking, turning...all must be done in a smooth way in order not to loose traction. Specially when you drive downhill, selecting a low gear will give you better control and will minimize braking. If possible, keep the 4WD engaged at all times. Lower your speed when another vehicle is coming from opposite direction or if other vehicle is trying to surpass you. It is very common that stones expelled by the wheels of the other car could impact yours and viceversa. The risk of damage increases with the speed. BE SURE YOUR CAR HAS A SAFETY (TRIPLE LAMINATED) WINDSHIELD. This kind of windshields will crack under a strong impact, but visibility will remain unalterable.ALWAYS drive within the track. The risk of tire punctures will be dramatically lowered and the overall car grip will be better....

by jcots

There are not a lot of dangers in this country. You just have to take care of your package in the big cities, as always you travel, mostly in Buenos Aires. The other cities are quite sure. If you want to travel by plane, check the trips before, because I had some problems with some cancellations. The organization off the companies is just a disaster. Like in everything the organisation is a big problem for travellers, but if you insist you get what you want, just take a little bit of pacience.

This warning is not for...

by Dicomo

This warning is not for travelers safety but for the wild life safety. In some routes of Argentinian Patagonia there are lots of free wild animals of lots of kinds and sizes, if you are riding a vehicle be careful. If it´s an Armadillo (like the one in the photo) he will surely die, but if it is a horse or a cow, you could have and accident.

by Hansom

On Ministro Pistarini (Ezeiza) airport, NEVER TAKE A TAXI of that what will be offered by the guys on the hall. Surely, you will be framed or robbered. If you need to take a taxi...never take one outside of any place (like restaurant, hotels, etc)...walk some and choose one at random. If you are in Buenos Aires..and go to visit the San Telmo neigborhood, be so carefull if you stay in a bar or restaurant with your pertenences...and if someone with Peruan or Bolivian look throw 'by accident' some liquid or food, and offers to help you to clean...you are in a certain danger to be robbered. Surely, he will offer to you to hold your camera or bags....and if you do this, he will run. Don't try to pursuit him, because he is not alone...and you will be surely hurted.

Well vegetarians...

In this country you eat meat and more meat.... The meat is almost cheaper then the vegetables.... Think before you visit Argentina if you just eat vegetables and fruits.
