    Bolivia air travel

by StephanB Written Aug 5, 2007

Currently, August 2007, LAB airlines is not flying in Bolivia. All there flights have been suspended, but they are supposed to be up and running again "soon" (that could mean anything).
TAM, the military airline is the most economical way to fly right now. One-way trips around to different destination within Bolivia run between $35-$65 US per person (children fly at a discount), currently unavailable on-line. They have about 10 different destinations. We will buy our one-way tickets as we go. For example (La Paz to Sucre, then Sucre to Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz to Cochabamba ) It is possible to pre-purchase the tickets and have open dates which is very convenient.
Aerosur also flies around Bolivia at about double the cost. They are currently running a promotion for tourist that includes any 4 destinations for US $250. It's a pretty good deal, but you have to purchase the tickets before entering the country, and they have just started working with outside travel agents and the tickets might be difficult to purchase.

La Paz - Sucre . De noche - By night

We left La Paz at eight in the evening and we reached Sucre the next day at seven in the morning (Copacabana Tours 10.5$ )
The travel is good , there are three seats per row that become as a "bed" and they make an stop for dinner (Take your own food)
What was unbelievable is that as the bus it was not full , they stopped at the Alto up to the time they got three more customers . When we were stopped more than 8 persons came up to the bus to sin , to sell , to play music...trying to get some bolivariano

    Getting there and around

The easiest way to get there is by bus. There are buses to Potosi, Cochabamba, La Paz, and Santa Cruz, among other desitinations. The bus fares are cheap at under $1 USD an hour. There are several companies out there so shop around for price and comfort.

Travelling within the city is best by bus or taxi. Both are dirt cheap.
