An amazing trip through the Andes visiting amazing geological features, with the highlight being the Salar de Uyuni, an spectacular salt lake formed by a pocket of the Pacific when it was trapped by the rising mountains. The people, scenery and if you are lucky amazing guides and cooks make for a near perfect trip. DO IT!!
This is the place to eat when you need to see tourist faces around you, a warm restaurant, and excellent food. The joint is located at the back of a hotel, and run by an American (married to a local) and it supplies the necessary balms to sooth any travellers woes.
An excellent selection of local wines and beers ensures that any night can be spent making new friends. There is also no pressure to move off a table, or out of the restaurant, so relaxation is a key element here.
Favorite Dish: Pizza Primavera was an excellent pizza. Getting a Pesto based pizza in the middle of Bolivia was an amazing experience.
Not cheap, but I wish we had chosen this alternative to the all night bus ride from La Paz.. Price is about $US150 one way, about 5 times what the bus costs.
But when do you get to fly on a DC3 on a regular commercial flight
