There are great places to visit around Tupiza. You should have what they call the full day tour that runs arround nice places near the town.
You can ride horses in a nice "old west" like landscape. There is also the option of a triathlon tour: horse, car and bycicle.
Don't skip Tupiza surroundings.

Start the 3-4 day Uyuni tour from Tupiza. If you are comming from south, Tupiza is closer to Villazon and you can end the tour in Uyuni.
Tupiza Tours was really nice. Good prices, average car, great food and great guide/driver.
More than that. If you start the tour in Tupiza you can see all the lagoons and deserts and leave the Salar for the last day.
In Tupiza there less tour agencies but its a nice town. You shouldn't skip it.

This restaurante openned Aug/2006 and is family ran. They have pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, meat and chicken. The place is clean, prices are fine and the food is good!
Openned all they long from Monday to Sunday.
Don't miss it. They also have a restaurante in Uyuni.
Favorite Dish: The Churrasco a Argetina is great. You should also try the Biana Pizza.
