A nice place to find everything you want (from vegetables to bread) in a typical atmosphere...

Hostal Carmen: Good Basic Accomodations

Hostal Carmen: Good Basic Accomodations, Tarija

richmonder63 Says:  I stayed in a large clean single room with private bath and cable tv for about $5 US a night based on a weekly rate in early 2005. The hostal also has a common area with newspaper and restuarant. The hostal is also centrally located in the city. There was an onsite travel...

The Market: Don't Miss Having Saice

The market in central Tarija as well as the one on the hill have quite a number of small restuarants which serve inexpensive meals quickly. Somestimes, they are too crowded for comfort and there are unpleasant smells drifting through the market. The meals are usually good and filling though. It is also a good way to enjoy the company and meet Tarijans.

Favorite Dish: Saice is a dish comprised of peas, potatoes, meat, etc in aji sauce. I would get a large delicious plateful for about .50c US in early 2005

Ideal place to breakfast and watch people on the main place of Tarija...

Favorite Dish: American breakfast : great coffee, fruit salad, huge toasts with mermelade and butter, natural orange juice, eggs and bacon... for only 14 bolivianos (less than 2 USD)... CRAZY !!!

FOU !!!

I have to be honest : this is the best and the cheapest place where we have eaten during our trip. First, it is so good, second it is enormous (we had to have two tables to put every meal we choosed), and, at last, it is cheap !!

Favorite Dish: Imagine ; a "fondue bourguignonne" with the best meat, vegetables, fruits, french fries, a "Milaneza Rellena" (meat with ham and cheese inside) with french fries and vegertables, a bottle of red wine, un dessert, all this disposed on two tables.... Only 12 USD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And what a nice place !
