bolivian shop by utttz Why do I need to buy a lot of candies if I want only one? who decided I want 20 cigarettes? why do I need to by a Kg of fidejos if I'm alone? In bolivia depackaging is widely spread..... you can buy a cigarette, a single candy and so on. the drawback of this system is that for some goods plastic bags are used for repackaging and plastic is unfortunately abandoned after use. On bolivian markets as well as in a lot of city stores you can find a lot of handmade works. Not everything is best quality, difficult to give a general tip, you have to control it as good as you can. Respect of clothes they try sometimes to sell you a "Baby-Alpaka-sweater" e.g. that isnīt at all of that quality, but made from Llama wool is good and warm as well.
Canīt generalize it, but if you really want to buy e.g a Sweater of Baby-Alpaka Quality you shoulf calculate maybe 50 Dollars (Iīm not sure at all), itīs still worth it, I saw these ones in Europe for 300 Dollares, so think about it. Leave a Comment Theme: Art

Colorful fruits in Copacabana market by richiecdisc Every town in Bolivia has a great market area, some with many of them. Copacabana's was small but colorful with merchants dressed in traditional clothing.
There are many great fruits as well as other local foods you won't find anywhere else.
Papayas are cheap and always good at less than a dollar. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: If you walk around any Bolivian city, you will pass a market soon enough.

Witches' market by tini58de The Witches' Market is in La Paz, off of Calle Sagárnaga onto Calle Linares. Here you can buy a bizarre assortment of goods including amulets, potions, delicately crafted silver jewelery, sweets, spices and dried llama fetuses. We were quite shocked about the llama fetuses, but our tour guide gave us a good explaination: llamas are usually pregnant with twins, but only one baby llama is born - so with the afterbirth there will always be the second fetus! .
If you're looking for luck, here's a list to help you decode the meaning of all the amulets on display: Frogs are said to bring good fortune; turtles are the symbol of long life; owls bring knowledge; snakes are a sign of progression (or moving in the right direction); koa--a dried plant made with molasses--is supposed to help your harvest; and pumas will help you achieve victory over your enemy. Copacabana vendors by tini58de Many vendors outside the Copacabana Cathedral sell medallions of the Virgin Mary, as the chapel holds the famous statue of Virgen de Copacabana. You can also buy flowers, garlands, candles - items to decorate those things, that you want to be blessed. We even saw decorated cars outside the church - waiting to be blessed! If you need warm clothes i.e. heading to the salt plains, La Paz is great for picking up warm fleeces for about 3 euro. Also the markets are great for getting some really nice ponchos.
Very cheap Leave a Comment Theme: Women's Clothes

WHAT TO BUY?..... des cure-dents of course!
