Praia de Ipitanga. An icy beer on a hot day, order a dish of crab or fried fish, relax and people watch or jump in the warm surf. What a life!
That 's why I like it. Technically, this beach, as well as those of Praias do Atlantico and Burraquinho to the north, are part of the little town of Lauro de Freitas. Actually, with over 100,00 inhabitants, it's not so little, but tourists aren't the main business around here. Which leaves miles of beautiful beaches and cozy little barracas all to me. And the locals, surfers and fishermen .
Update: the charming barracas in the older photos no longer exist, among them, the Coco Loco, Portal do Mar, and Venha K. All torn down a couple of years ago. But the beach remains as beautiful as ever.
