When u arrive in Itacare they tell you you will need a guide to go everywhere!
They say its dangerous to take the tracks alone (only tourists) and you should not take the chance.
Try to negotiate lower rates but always bring a local guide with you. I was not robbed but met people there that took the tracks alone (prainha track) and were robbed (they took their cameras and money).
You will find some guides asking you to go with you to Prainha beach in the beggining of the trekking. Normally they say an elevate price but you can negociate. At the low season I never had problems, but there are some people took there traks alone and were roubed (cameras and money).
This is a very locals only surf beach! I got the mesage to walk on to Prainha - which is 10 times more beuatiful but the best waves were at Triijca :(.
The Police stopped our car outside of Ilheus - the driver did not have a portuguese transaltion of his international liscence and we had to pay an 'on the spot ifne'... If you are going to drive in Brasil get a translation from the conuslate before you leave.
