Salvador is an important city in Brasilian history, having once been the capitol. Being the capitol also made in important in the cultural history, and you will see locals dressed in traditional garments. You can have your picture made, but beware, you will be asked for a donation, and they will not be shy about it. Be prepared to shell out some sheckles. It is best to have an offering ready, they will want more, but by giving freely, you may find them less pushy.

Local women, dressed with typical clothes, can be seen everywhere, selling typical food made by themselves.
