When leaving Salvador de Bahia de Todos Santos, I met three lovely Brasilians who had just boarded. They professed to speak no English, so my ukulele had to work its magic, and we became friends for the rest of the voyage. I do not know how I can be so lucky.
Thank you Luzia, Glase, and Maria.

I was aboard the Rotterdam of Holland America on this journey. My first cruise line cruise. The evening before port at the Captain's Reception I was seated with a Brasilian man and his wife. They spoke very little English, and I spoke very little Portugeuse. So we stumbled about for about twenty minutes until he said that he was not born in Brasil, but rather in Budapest! My Hungarian is not great, but it was enough that we had a splendid time. He even gave me 5rl for the elevator from lower city to upper.
Thank you Linda and Peter Ungar.
