A group of people from association Capoeira Sul da Bahia used to practice capoeira, a Brazilian system of movements similar to dance and martial arts. This was the main reason for me to come there every night and enjoy a beautiful coexistence of battle, movement of the body and music.
As I was staying in one of the member's pousada I was once even invited to attend their practice in Academia where a very important maestro came that night. Such a performance! Wow!!

At night there are a couple of stalls/bars at the entrance to Quadrado. My favourite was the one of Leandro and Chico and I used to come there since the first night. They are such a nice and funny guys and beside, they play the best music. Forro, of course! :) Would you expected something else, hehe?
They make all imaginable local cocktails, from the most popular of the area, Capeta (check my Local Customs Tip about the details), to the classic Caipirinha (with caschaca), Caipifruta (insted of limes you choose between different tropical fruit) and Caipirosca (with vodka).
It is a nice spot to begin the night. While sipping a refreshing cold drink you can watch the people passing or attend the practice of capoeira close by.
