  • Pelourinho

    4 out of 5 stars

Salvador da Bahia Things to Do

The historical centre itself, which revolves around the Pelourinho quarter with its triangular place, is characterized by its fidelity to the 16th-century plan, the density of its monuments, and the homogeneity of its construction on a hilly and picturesque site which embellishes the urban scenery by providing steeply falling and ascending views of...

Don't let the exterior appearance deter you from eating at Dada. Once inside, you'll find a cozy room with paintings of the proprietor herself, Dada. She is a warm looking Afro-Brazilian woman usually depicted in traditional clothing and with a bright smile accented by a charming gap between her two front teeth. Too bad I didn't meet her while I...

    Itacaré Things to Do

A little off the tourist path, the bookshop in Itacaré was a gem of a find and well worth a visit. It's a cute space where you can drink coffee and read, right in front of where all the boats come in. It's on the strip in the old centre of town. The best part for me was that after travelling around Brazil for 5 months this was the ONLY place I...

    Trancoso Nightlife

A group of people from association Capoeira Sul da Bahia used to practice capoeira, a Brazilian system of movements similar to dance and martial arts. by Lyneke Updated Sep 6, 2004

I made reservations with Zen Tours, one of many touroperators in the town. In my opinion, these people were the most friendly, and the tours they offered are more or less the cheapest in town. And I can assure you, in general the tours are very expensive!

Keep in mind that the guides don't speak any english, which is a pitty! If you want a english guide for one day, you can easily pay 100 reals!!!!

So I was glad the tour I made wasn't only informative, but also verrrrry active. And we saw a lot of the region just in one day.

I payed 35 reals for a tour of 1 day.
