A place like that would never be seen in Canada, in the USA and also in Europe, but in the far endings of Brazil you can perfectly see such an exotic fair just like this one I saw in a city not so far from João Pessoa.
I was in Pedras de Fogo and had lots of fun in a local fair which divides two states of the Republic, Paraiba and Pernambuco.
There you can see cow heads hanging in a fair stand, the local people do appreciate eating it....
SECOND WEEK OF JUNE - 2005
São joão (Saint John) is a traditional festival, mainly in the North-east of Brazil. We have a 2-day-holyday and people dance a lt, eat regional food such as corn, "canjica", "pamonha", all made from corn. We have beautiful bonfires and music. Here, you can see children dancing at a school.
Sometimes you can find small bars with horrible names...well, let me translate these names:The first one is"Barraca do pau mole", it means: "listless dick hut" and the next one: "Barraca do pau duro" , meaning: " Hard dick hut"
"Who wants a relaxing massage?"
Some masseurs wander about at night offering their massages, you pay about 3 dollars and you have a 20-minute-massage, wherever you are. Some people feel a bit embarassed, but it is so nice!!
Eating crabs may sound disgusting to some people, but why don't you try it? go to a bar on the beach and eat crabs with coconut water...then tell me what you think about that custom.
If you go to a house and if it does not have a bell, local people clap the hands instead of knocking on the door. This habit made many foreign tourists laugh, but it is normal around here.
