..is strictly fobiden, specially things that they are absolutely not used to digest!
Imagine yourself being feed with dogs food (even I knew guys who liked it..),or someone gives you a bunch of hay..not nice right??
The forest guides can be really mad if they find you feeding the animals as this clever guy here..I'm sure the macaw loves ice cream, but I imagine the effects next day!
You can receive a penalty for that!

    Don't get too camera happy

  • For some reason tourist feel the need to take loads of pictures, especially of common or ordinary things or when the guide decides to point at something. You have to remember that they do that because they know tourists want to see stuff, so they will start pointing at every little thing, especially when there's not that much to see.

I found that a lot of the people I was with, were more concerned about taking pictures or capturing the 'moment' on film instead of appreciating what they were seeing. More often then not, the animal/bird was way too fast for the camera or they would get scared off by everyone scurrying to take a picture.

Instead, take the time to appreciate the surroundings and nature instead of being so worried about capturing it on film...it's already been done...you also make the trip unpleasant for others.

Actually LOOK at what is in front of you instead of through a lens.

    Staying at 1 place

  • Many tourist stay more than 3 days at one accomodation. Really 2,3 days is more than in enough. After 2 days you've done the main activities at the lodge and you'll repeat the same activities; passing the same land, the same river

Sure, nature never bores you and you'll probably see other animals when you go another time on the same track. If you're a great nature lover you'll love it anyhow.

Try to go with a tour guide that takes you to different lodges in the Pantanal. 1/2 days at one lodge and then to another one, etc. Lodges are located on different types of land. F.e. not all lodges are located near a river. And a river makes your tour more interesting. Or you if you want to go really deep into the Pantanal you need to stay at different lodges as well. And it's always nice to see different types of accomodations, landscapes and probably animals. You'll see many more animals if you just travel around in the Pantanal. That is better than just staying at your lodge, waiting for anoter tour acitvity.

Thinking there is malaria in the Pantanal

  • There is no malaria in the Pantanal! Foreigners may be adviced to take Malaria profilaxe, but really, it's unneccessary. It would do you more harm if you'd take it. So please, save them for a trip to the Amazon.

You save more money, if you stop taking them.
