A good option to visit Recife is to take a boat tour along Capibaribe river.
"Catamaran Tours" offers a few options of tours. "Rio Capibaribe e suas pontes" (Capibaribe River and its bridges), "Recife e seus bairros" (Recife and its neighborhoods), "Ilha de Santo Aleixo" (Santo Aleixo Island), "Praia dos Carneiros" (Carneiros Beach) and "Ilha de Itamaracá" (Itamaracá Island). I took the one along Capibaribe River and found it very amusing. The price is R$30,00 (US$20).

One of the things you can do in Recife is to visit the beach. It's a long and special beach which is a nice place to visit. It's plenty of sun-chairs and polite people who offer drinks and fruits. When you leave the beach you will notice the bars. What is so special with this? It is bars with 20-30 metres space all over the beach. It's a phenomen i've never seen any other place. It's also nice to walk or run next to the beach, which many people does.
Returning from Olinda, I found myself in Sao Jose which was a lot of fun. Here there are many colorful buildings, many people out and about, and just a fun place to stroll around. While in Recife there is more to do than the beach and a trip to Olinda. Keep your options open.
Warm weather, how sea water, sun, small bikinis, coconut water...
...not bad, considering you're in a CITY!
It is definately not one of the best beaches I've seen but well, that wasn't what I was looking for either.
Of course, paradise beaches supposedly lie a few kms away from town. This one's good for a refreshing dive if you're in Recife.
What a pleasure, to have the water just by the city..
This long golden sand beach with the warm water is very inviting. No matter the time of the year it's always nice to have a swim... even if during winter I found the beach empty and didn't quite understood why!
Go in the morning when the sun is not too hot. Bring lots of sunscreen lotion. They offer you a chair, an umbrella and they come to serve you when ever you want...beer, soft drink, and plenty of snack and tasty bites.
Visit also the city. The nine principal bridges are lovely to walk drive on: Ponte Maricio de Nassau, Princesa Isabel, Buarque de Macedo, Boa Vista ect....
Lots of churches built in the 16 and l7 century. Great architecture.
Bairro do Recife Antigo is a must in the afternoon and at night. Night life is awsome
On Rua do Bom Jesus ....lots of street shops and cafés, the oldest synagogue ot the Americas, Plaça do Arsenal and Avenuda Rio Branco: lots of cafés, pubs, painting display and dancing clubs
La casa da Cultura, a former Jail. Museum do Homen do Nordeste
Officina Brennand great open air exhibition of sculptures in ceramic and clay.
Instituto Ricardo Brennand : a great museum of Brazilian great artist Ricardo painting the colonial life of the 16Th century.
There is so much to see. Don't rush and discover Brazilian early colonial culture.
Beaches...beaches...beaches...There are excellent beaches south of Recife, with a calm sea, crystal clear waters, white sand dunes, and friendly people. The reef that protects the city runs parallel to the coast for many miles, and the entire region offers outstanding dive opportunities. Fishing villages dot this part of the coast, and these are excellent places to dine on fresh-caught seafood
Olinda is a small city very close to Reife. In fact, people don´t know for sure where one city starts and when the other ends. The architecture of Olinda developed in the midst of a profuse tropical vegetation and a comfortable balance was maintained between the two main components of its landscape. The prominent public buildings include the Cathedral and about 20 Baroque churches, convents and colleges. The residential architecture, which brings together the Portuguese and Brazilian heritage of the city, includes 17th-century dwellings decorated with mashrabiyas, and 18th-century houses covered in tiles, as well as more recent homes. The brightly painted houses create colourful streetscapes.
Approximately one hour by car from Recife, capital of Pernanbuco State, there is Santo Agostinho Cape Resort. It is located in front of a beautiful beach with warm waters.
Go to the beach is a very good activity in Recife!
You find all qualities when you are in the Recife´s beaches.
