Balneário de Camboriù Things to Do
The beauties of Balneario Camboriu, always framed by sea and Atlantic forest, can be enjoyed on several tours. One of the finest is the lift that leads to the top of a mountain and ends at Laranjeiras beach. The city is famous also for restless nights in the summer. Several bars and clubs attract young people not only in the state of Santa Catarina.Related to:

At the Southern end of Avenida Atlântica you will find the estuary of Rio Camboriú and also the jetty called „Molhe Barra Sul“. It’s a popular tourist spot during the day but also a lovely place to visit at night. The illuminated skyline of Balneário Camboriú can be admired from the pier and also the „Cristo Luz“ monument can be seen.
We’ve been there at around 11 pm and there were still some more people going for a walk and at the end of the pier there was a couple of guys fishing with fluorescent baits. We’ve been watching them for a while as it was quite fascinating. I’ve never before seen anyone angling in the dark.
And there was one more intriguing occurrence: there were huge bats hunting for insects. They were skittering closely above the surface of the water. It took us a while to work out that it was bats. They were quite fast and we’ve never before seen any that huge. But it was very interesting to watch this extraordinary „hunting party“. Unfortunately I’ve not been able to take any photos of the bats as it simply was too dark.
There’s a small kiosk at the jetty (close to the chair lift (teleférico) linking the 2 beaches of Balneário Camboriú and Laranjeiras). The kiosk was still open at 11 pm, they sell drinks, snacks, cigarettes, etc.Related to:

Balneário Camboriú is one of the main beach resorts of Santa Catarina. So going to one of the beaches is absolutely inevitable! There are 10 beaches to choose from in and around Camboriú.
The Central Beach is the one that's most conveniently accessible from the town. It has a total length of almost 7 km and it's flanked by lots and lots of hotels, restaurants, bars and cafés. It's a nice, sandy beach and fairly clean as well. We've been there in late October and there have not been too many people at the beach then. But in Summer Balneário Camboriú can be pretty overcrowded and I guess that the same will go for the beach then.
Swimming is almost impossible due to the rather high waves. You constantly have to be "on guard" to make sure you're not washed away! ; ) But we've had lots of fun there, nevertheless!
There are many booths where you can rent beach chairs and sunshades as well as drinks and snacks at very good prices.
Central Beach is a great place to relax and watch the surfers taming the waves and the ships at the ocean which can still be seen in the distance.Related to:

It´s a small restaurant I love to go !! it´s located in front to te sea in Mata Camboriú beach (about 10 km. from Camboriú downtown) It has a very good structure, and all dishes are VERY WELL SERVD !
Favorite Dish: I like to ask for "anchova grelhada" ( fish accompained with rice, shrimp sauce, fried banannas, potatoes, and pirão) It is a fantastic but not expensive choise ! try it!!Related to:

The most amazing dining experience with your toes in the sand! Take the gondola down to the beach and this is the only restuarant there. I paid about $13 USD for lobster, shrimp, fish and a couple of BIG beers...amazing.Related to:

Balneário de Camboriù Warnings and Dangers
There’s an islet just off Balneário Camboriú that can be seen from almost everywhere at Central Beach and Avenida Atlântica (even at nights as it is illuminated then). Many people are enticed into swimming from Central Beach over to Ilha das Cabras (Goat Island). But beware: it’s not as close at it looks! It’s a distance of almost 1 km and there are waves, drifts and whirls which rapidly exhaust swimmers.
Guido also tried to swim to the island but soon realized that he couldn’t manage it. And on his return to the beach a (justly) angry lifeguard was awaiting him to give him a wigging.
If you really want to visit Ilha das Cabras to enjoy some beautiful views of the bay and the beach: boats depart from the end of Avenida Atlântica.Related to:

Balneário de Camboriù Favorites
Fondest memory: My fondest memory of Brazil will always be of the Praia do Estaleiro.
The owners Alejandro and his wife were friendly and warm, as well as one of the other permanent guest, Benjamin.
If I ever go back to Brazil, I will definitely go to this place again.
