Guarda do Embaù Travel Guide

It's a bar/restaurant located in the banks of the "DAS MADRES" river,just the way in and out from the beaches,the place is always full,beer is cold as alaska,seafood in a very local style,the must is all about crabs,realllly delicious,shellfish so fresh it could talk to you(pls don't eat me!!),together with some lime drops,wow,can say no more!
Well,as we ate home breakfast and later " second " dinners(and third,and fourth,etc..),here's a picture of how the kitchen usually looked like in the morning!

From Florianopolis,take the road south,to the municipality of PALHOCA (BR-101),than turn left as you see a small sign written PRAIA DA GUARDA,it takes no longer than 50 minutes.
The way than becomes a little rustic (stones) but your car can certainly handle it,from the sign to the village takes about 15 minutes.
The cross out of Florianopolis is a mess,take care to take the right direction as the nbr of traffic lights is amazing!!

The terrible danger of loving it,of to get use to it,of crying when you leave...don't say i didn't warn you!!

Luggage and bags: As to cross the river will be part of your day by day,a good waterproof bag will be blessed!

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bikinis girls,bikinis!!

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Sun protector cream,eye drops,after sun creams,repelents,sun glasses,ear drops,aspirines,anti-histaminics (medicines for allergies,as sometimes one can get an allergie from seafood it happened to one of our friends and he ate crabs thousand times before,well,and it happened,it was a terrible thing,he scratched all over and got very red,after the pill,in 10 minutes,he was just like nothing happened!)

Surfing in Guarda is the must,surfers from all over Brazil come to this simple small place to enjoy one of the hot spots for surf in the country!
Besides,the feeling of "family" the natives give to them is so sweet,there's only one problem considering the natives life:the " TAINHA" season.
Tainha is the most lucrative and popular fish here,and during the fish season ( july ),in some beaches,the fishermen will ask the surfers not to surf,it extremely disturbs the activities for them,and it's the main money they make during the year,everybody respects it.
