Favorite thing: Found out not long ago there's a discussion regarding the fact the lighthouse is the 3rd light long range in the world:the news say it is the 4th in Brasil, loosing for Abrolhos and Ilha Rasa, both with 51light range miles followed by Olinda with 46 light range miles,as Santa Marta!
1.Be ready to surf with dolphins! They are everywhere! With a bit luck, you'll see pingins and whales too!
2.There are a small nbr of Inns, but the cool and popular acomodations are the fishermen or locals houses for rent!
3.The lighthouse hill is a very calm place and usually you can be there all by yourself!A beautiful place for a little meditation!
4.The food is extremely cheap(believe me,even int he high seasons!!),and some meals are quite enough(one plate)for 2!
5.Seafood is cheap as well!Enjoy the calamaris, shrimps(big big famous shrimps from Laguna!),crabs and all what you imagine! The cheapest place for seafood in the south for sure!
6.Watch out from trying sandboard!Yes,the dunes invite to it,they are marvelous and big,but on the way there are terribly big stones....!
1.Cardoso beach:here you can find some bars on the beach.
For the surfers:the best waves are here, with south or west swell.
2.Cigana beach:is the last beach at Santa Marta's cable.
3.Grande beach:a wild beach where you can be almost by yourself!Huge dunes, and very popular among the surfers.
4.Prainha:small beach with a hard kind of sand, where you can find a house to rent, lots of bars and restaurants.
The lighthouse is located in the south side of Laguna, about 120km south Florianopolis.
The only access is by a feeryboat what you can take from "Da Barra chanel" in Laguna. After crossing with the ferryboat, you will start to see the endless dunes...it's the lighthouse village!
The lighthouse was first lighted at 11th june,1891!
It's very important for the navegators in the area,it divided the sea in 2:the Southest one which is the wildest one,and the Northest sea,the calm and easy!
Fondest memory: It's a fishermen comunity,whith about 2000 inhabitants.
In the 70's tourists started exploring the hills, but till nowadays, there's some kind of environment respect here, and it keeps being almost the same place as than(no huge close neighborhoods or big buildings or thousands of hotels..acomodations are simple as it can be..)
It's a paradise for surfers!
