Roads to Campos do Jordao are quite good so a trip from Sao Paulo can be made in 2, 5 hours by car.

Although Campos do Jordão is a small city (36.000 inhabitants), the main attractions are very spread all around the town and some of them are outside it.
It won´t be a problem if you are driving a car but if you´re not...
The best option is to find touristic tours that will take you to the places you wanna visit. I don´t recommend local buses. You can easily get lost and maybe even robbed...

If you don´t have a car, the best option to get to Campos do Jordão is by bus.
There are many departures from São Paulo and the journey will last probably 2 or 3 hours.
The bus journey is very safe so you don´t have to be worried about it...

Campos do Jordão is at the end of a railway line that passes through the highest point on the railway network in Brasil. It serves the city of Campos do Jordão as well as connecting it with Pindamonhangaba, as well as Reino das Aguas Claras, which is a resort park of sorts lower down in the mountains.
Streetcars operate on the line from time to time linking places inside Campos do Jordão.

The best way to get to Campos do Jordão (just like to almost every city in Brazil) is by car. The roads from São Paulo (167km) and Rio de Janeiro (303km) are good and the signs are also very clear.
