  • A Train Stroll!!!

The train trip lasts 2h30min. The departure is at Emilio Ribas Station (the main - if not the only!!! - train station in Campos do Jordão) and it goes to the Santo Antonio do Pinhal (a neighbor city) Station by the highest railroad in Brazil (1743m).During the trip, guides will explain to you the peculiarities of the fauna and flora of the region....

  • Morro do Elefante

"Morro do Elefante" (Mount of the Elephant) is probably the highest point of the city. The view is very beautiful and makes the mount worth a visit. Except this, sincerely, there´s nothing up there (only a small elephant statue, but this will only suit kids who love to take a picture next to the elephant). The access can be by car (about 5 or 10...

  • Horto Florestal - Flowers

There´s a place in the park where they grow many types of flowers, specially orchids. They also sell the most varied types of plants, from fruits to flowers.

  • Take the chair lift

Just walked on to the lift by chance, did not know there was a chair lift here, after a short queue I was on top of the hill looking down to the city to tell the truth it is better down there.

  • Horto Florestal

It is possible to bath on the waterfalls at Horto Florestal. • Horto Florestal

There´s probably a specific translation for the word "horto", but unfortunatelly I don´t know it. Basically it´s a huge park with tracks in the bushes and beautiful (although small) waterfalls. There are also restaurants and gift shops in the "park".It was a 40 minutes walk to get to the waterfall on the picture, which is the shortest track of the...

  • Ducha de Prata ("Silver Waterfall")

Ducha de Prata ("Silver Waterfall") is a waterfall with bridges all over it and gardens around it. Not a "must see activity" I´d say... there ain´t much here...

  • Palácio da Boa Vista ("Boa Vista...

This is a beautiful palace that shelters paintings of brazilian artists, such as Tarsila do Amaral, Di Cavalcanti and Portinari, and furniture from the XVII and XVIII centuries.Opened Wed-Sun from 10h/12h and 14h/17h.

  • The best Italian in town

Placed in a rural area, the restaurant is famous for the home made pasta and italian dishes. It has been awarded as "Best Italian Food Restaurant" by the Veja magazine in 2001 and 2008. My favorite dish is Spaghetti Carbonara. The preparation is absolutely correct, from the crisp bacon bits to the raw egg yolke mixed in the plate just before...

  • A new experience

Runned by the Chef and Owner Fernando, the restaurant presents traditional french cuisine with new technologies as such vaccum enveloped and low temperature cooked "Confit de Canard" resulting in a delicate and delicious experience. Located in a former residential house, it's decor is clean, modern and very pleasant. A large window, in the back...

  • Simple and affordable menu

I thought by its name, the restaurant would be decorated with Brazilian flags and stuff but there was nothing typical inside. The decoration is pretty plain. Our waitress was very courteous (hard to find these days). We had the promotional menu which was "Picanha" with your chosen sauce (vinagrette, butter, garlic and oil or sauce Madeira) served...

by Elainehead Written Apr 21, 2004

In Capivari area, you will find most of the trendiest bars & restaurants of Campos do Jordão. It is also a good place for people-watching.

Oh! Don't forget to try eating Fondue (as in Fondue Savoyarde) or Chocolate Fondue (if you are not found of cheese).

Dress Code: A very warm coat because in Campos do Jordão, the weather can go below zero, especially at night.

Campos do Jordão Shopping

  • Chocolate

You cannot leave Campos without buying chocolate on "Chocolate Montanh?s" (it means "Chocolate from the Mountain"). It?s a great chocolate shop with many types of chocolate. The chocolates are a little overpriced. But... hey, you?re in Campos... everything is overpriced here...

  • Chocaholic's Paradise

I'm not a big fan of chocolate, but my sisters and friends go crazy when they go into this shop. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate...

    Morro do Elefante

by Elainehead Updated Aug 6, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Taking pictures from the mirador was once free, but now you are "invited" to pay R$ 2 at the restaurant's entrance and then they will let you go to the mirador.

Fun Alternatives: Take the cable car instead, if you aren't acrophobe.

It's a private owned museum about the art of printing on paper using an etched matrix. The museum has over 2,000 pieces produced by more than 300 artists from all over the world. There is also a very didatic presentation of the evolution of the art of printing over the years, starting with the manualy etched wood blocks to the lead lynotiping and the computer based composition, including the history of the font families and other technical aspects.
The museum address is Av. Eduardo Moreira da Cruz, 295 at the Jaguaribe distric.

Campos do Jordão Favorites

  • Praça São Benedito

Montanhês (Chocolate shop), art gallery, restaurant, shops, etc...In winter, there are many activities in this square.

  • Mirador

"The best things in life are free". By the road, on your way back, there is this mirador. Pull over your and admire the stunning view of the area.

  • Strike a pose!

Across the street of the restaurant Baden Baden there is a small shopping mall. On its first floor there is a balcony, where you can take nice pictures of the street's atmosphere. At night, the view is more charming.
