Favorite thing: You can walk around the whole town in about an hour. Lots of little shops, not unlike any other beach town worldwide. Good selection of T-shirts, art, dive souvenirs, nautical items. No English spoken but you will be able to get by with gesturing. Possibly you will be able to get the merchants to take US Dollars if you have no Brasilian reals.
Fondest memory: Haggling over T-shirts. I wear XXL which corresponds to GGG (Grande Grande Grande). I picked up a shirt that said Grande Grande and asked for Grande Grande Grande. The shopkeeper responded with rapid-fire Portuguese and in a flash of insight I realized she was saying, "But our XLs are oversized to begin with." Where have I heard that one before! Next fondest memory: Playing pinball in the candy store.
