Gateway to Itatinga

The entire city of Itatinga is off the beaten path. In order to get there, you must cross a river on a boat, then take a short train ride. You must also sign a waiver of liability with the city of Santos, who owns the boat, the train, and the community that serves the hydroelectric dam the community is next to.

This photo shows the only connection from Itatinga to the rest of the world: a boat carries the passengers across the river to a railway line, and all people and material going to or coming from Itatinga must use the railway line.
