There are plenty of discos and bistros in Sao Paulo. Where all the beautiful people meet. I found bistros were particularly popular (at least with the Brazilian girls we were with). Boogie is THE disco according to my favourite Brazilian girl.
Dress Code: Ah well, chic would be good. These people know how to dress at night. If you have been to Montreal you'll know what I mean. You can wear jeans and a t-shirt but at the better places you may have a problem and you will certainly stand out in the crowd. Black is a favourite for the night as well...
If you wanna dance, Moby Dick,...
If you wanna dance, Moby Dick, beautiful people and easy accessible , or Avelino´s, a little far but a great place.
If you like to spend a good time just talking with your friends, Heinz, a bar in german style, good chopp.
Unfortunately, I can't come up...
Unfortunately, I can't come up with a big list. Due to the language problem and the fact that I was NEVER introduced to some nice and interestingly spots by the brazilians around me (so much for brazilian hospitality; but I think it is a specific problem of Sao Paulo), I can only point out to irish bars - O'Malley's and Finnegan's Pub.
People speak english there, so you can finally talk to someone.
Dress Code: Any dress will do.
Can´t tell much, but least one...
Can´t tell much, but least one thing - check out the recent movies. Visiting a cinema is not a problem and not expensive, and all movies are presented in their original language with subtitles in portuguese. A lot of cinemas are clustered around Avenida Paulista, so this is a good place to go. Wednesday is movie day, so instead the usual 8 Reais (about 3 US$), you only pay 6 Reais (about 2.5 US$).
In addition, you might check out the theater (see photo).
Many pubs are open at night,...
Many pubs are open at night, but be sure to take care, because it is a big city and there are inherent dangers. Many nightclubs are located near Augusta boulevard. Being there with my father, I didn't have too many opportunities to let my hair down with the locals!!
Another sunset here in SAo Paulo.
Another day ends, soon we be out to some restaurant or bakery then a good place to have coffee and then who knows....

One of the best alternative spots in Sampa is A Loca. Alternative rock, 80's and indie singles.

Piratininga Bar: A cool hangout in a cool neighborhood
It's just a nice local club, they do have food, but go to enjoy the atmosphere, the people-watching, and the live music, too. Crowded and noisy, just the way it should be!
