 schurlif Says:  Even though you're right at the beach here don't forget, you're in Brazil and finding such a little gem to visit is almost a "miracle" because Brazil is not really good at building worthy and easily accessible tourist attractions.... This here is "just" an aquarium, nothing... 

 schurlif Says:  Paraty, some 70 or so km east of Ubatuba in the state of Rio de Janeiro is a whole tourist destination to its own but for me, owner of a beach house in Ubatuba it is "just" a day's excursion worth.... even though, of course, Paraty has an array of chic pousadas, boutiques,... 

 schurlif Says:  Not exactly known for its "lavish beach", this is the action center of Ubatuba, where it's all happening..... restaurant after restaurant, ice cream parlors, hot dog stands, shops, the handicraft market ( all year round ) and during high season the Amusement Park and shows... 

 schurlif Says:  ITAGUA BEACHjust slightly off west of Ubatuba's center, this beach is not recommendable for staying on it for any longer time, as the beach itself is really NOTHING special.....What' s special here is the historical significance of the place ( After Hans Staden's ordeals... 

 schurlif Says:  PRAIA DURAsituated about 2km west of Lazaro Beach ( reachable only from the highway ), this almost always deserted beach is an about 1.5 km long stretch of sand and "nothing else". On the eastern end of the beach is the mouth of a river, descending from the nearby mountains.... 

 schurlif Says:  DOMINGO DIAS BEACHadjacent to the western end of Lazaro Beach ( 100 m walk through a stony corridor ), this beach is almost always quiet due to the fact that it's right in front of the gated community "Pedra Verde" (access NOT limited or prohibited). The beach is totally... 

 schurlif Says:  SUNUNGA BEACHadjacent to the eastern end of Lazaro Beach ( a 150 meter walk ), this is a beautiful place, alas, with heavy, sometimes even dangerous surf due to facing the open sea. There are three bars, soft white sand and the "famous 'grota que chora' ", a little cave... 

 schurlif Says:  LAZARO - A " bairro" of Ubatuba and my "home beach", this is where I have my little beach house. There are actually various beaches here which I'll introduce each as a separate tip.... (smiles).Lazaro Beach is about 15 km west of the city center, one half ( the eastern )... 

 tongibus Says:  Praia do Cedro (also known as Praia do Cedrinho - diminutive of Cedro) is a quiet nearly deserted little beach. Easy reachable, about 20 minutes' walking in the rain forest from Praia do Tenorio (25 minutes from Praia Grande).

 IIGUANA Says:  In Ilha Anchieta. A very warm water beach. In fact, the warmest I've ever been to! So if you like deserted beaches, this is a must. Take a tour to Ilha Anchieta, and the beach will be right there.

 IIGUANA Says:  We didn't see any hostel in Ubatuba, but what we did is that we rented an apartment. In fact, I didn't see many buildings, so maybe it was the only apartment building next to the beach. Go to an "imoveis", that is, where you can rent houses or apartments, and tell them to...
