    The (right) choice of my company for my air transportation to Aracajú was Varig, almost the national airline of Brasil. From Buenos Aires to Río de Janeiro or Sao Paulo and later a transfer to Aracajú.
    A long flight indeed (Brasil is really gigantic) but the services onboard were fine and the fleet is modern and safe.
    Varig has flights to/from all America and Europe with connections to the rest of the world, so, take a look on their website and make your own arrangements for the pleasure of visiting this beautiful country.

    One of my greatest pleasures was the sailing of the river Santa María an Vaza Barras. Transportation from the small piers of Mosqueiro to Ilha de Goré and others are supported by powered canoes. You can rent it for a round trip to your destination for 30 reais or less (about 12 dollars) for two persons. Practical service with the invaluable bonus of the view and the pure air of the river.
    To get one boat just bargain right on the piers of Mosqueiro.

    By the local road N°438 at 19 kilometers to the south of Aracaju is the small village of Mosqueiro, rent a small boat (30 reais round trip two persons) to sail the river Vaza Barras and Santa María to the Ilha de Goré (Goré Island), it isn't far, just 15 minutes by boat. With the low tide you can enjoy a cold beer beside the beach and some delicious dishes of fish and shrimps or crabs, when the high tide is coming up you should move with your chair to the woody platform built for this moment, and continue with your suffering task...;-D

    The most spreaded tradition tell us that the paradigma of carnaval is in Rio de Janeiro, in february. But let me tell you that there are a previous check out test en january, where?... well, here, in Aracaju the second week of january.
    As far as I can see it should be an unforgettable experience, I regret a lot because I stayed too late in there, in april and march, but my friend Roberto Fiel gave me a lot of pix of this special event. Take a look on my travelogue of this carnaval, but I should tell you that all the pix belongs to Roberto. Anyway, I think that I should post it, because next year I'll be there...

    Ilha de Santa Luiza is a place, where life of the local people is still as simple as it is used to be a long time ago... You can always ask somebody to go sailing or even fishing with him. An interesting experience!

    What about surfing somewhere far away from masses of tourists? I found Ilha de Santa Luzia a perfect place. River Sergipe separates the city from the island which is accessible by boat from Aracaju.

    In Central Market you can buy regional stuffs from food to handcrafts. You can take advantage to have a lunch and avoid walk in the city during the most hot hours of the day.
