My boyfriend and I were surprised at the range of places to eat, it's rather varied, even though Canoa Quebrada is a small place. On the main street we found a good selection and quality. While we didn't try all of them Cafe Habana stood out for its freshness and quality. They also happen to own the hotel we stayed at - Pousada Iguana.

Broken Canoe

Canoa Quebrada literally means broken canoe, but it could be broken down civilisation, cute in small doses. Lots of drugs here, you are almost a "square" if you say no!!

Absolutely exotic miles and miles of beach if you drive from Fortaleza the drive is wonderful, most of it actually on the beach and you may see the odd (literally) fisherman and that's about all.

Quite an experience.

Strangely while I was here I saw a Miss Model World competition, fascinating stuff for a place that is quite literally the back of beyond.

Every year in january there is a football world cup, where all the different foreigners and a team of brazilians play against each other.
It's taken very serious by some of the people living there and should be well worth seeing.
