From Monday through Monday there is always something going on in Fortaleza. A great deal is going to Pagliuca Café, which is actually a bar/pub and order a Gin Fizz or a beer and enjoy the Tuesdays night where they turn the lights off and fire the bar....It's AWESOME
Spots to hang out: Empire Cafe (my favourite), cafe Pagliuca, Praia de Iracema, Opção Futuro on Friday night, clubs such as Mucuripe and Pimenta Maluca or Órbita on Sunday nights.....

If you're EVER in Fortaleza over a Monday night, you just have to experience Pirata. It's where all the locals (both young and old alike) go to dance and enjoy the local music (called Forro (sp?) - pronounced fo'-ho')..
I had a GREAT TIME in Pirata Bar..
Althought it's called a bar, don't be confused, this place is HUGE on the inside, with a full stageshow, and a wonderful band.

Ceara is the capital of Forro and you can dance Forro in Fortaleza almost any night of the week. Monday nights at Pirata's are legendary, and there are several other spots all around town and in the baracas on Praia do Futuro like Chico de Cangrejo etc

Two bars on Avenida Beira Mar, just along from Rua dos Tabajaras, offer a wonderful combination of eating, drinking and live music: the Pontal de Iracema at no. 680 and the Cais Bar at no. 696 are extremely trendy nightspots where you have to arrive early to get a seat.

Fortaleza is justly famous for its forró . Nowhere is it so popular, and there is no better way to see what Cearenses do when they want to enjoy themselves than to spend a night in a dancetaria in Fortaleza. And spending the night is literally what you need to do: although most dancetarias open at 10pm, people don't really start arriving until around midnight, and peak time is in the early hours of the morning. There always seems to be forró on somewhere but the venue changes every night.

Nightlife is really 'lively' in Fortaleza. You can´t miss 'Forró', a kind of typical dance very different and sensual...
