One of the surroundings by Guedes It's a big restaurant with different surroundings. There are tables and benches made of logs, candles lighting those tables, dry branches above the tables, sand on the floor... and waiters dressed with safari clothes! There's also a completely different place where they serve japanese food. Other suggestions: - Colher de Pau - local food (Tabajaras street, near Estoril - Praia de Iracema; Ana Bilhar street - Varjota) - Mil Mares - Seafood (Frederico Borges street - Varjota) - Assis, o Rei da Picanha -steak (Ana Bilhar street, near Colher de Pau; Frederico Borges street, near Mil Mares) - Kyngio - Japanese food (Pereira Valente street - Varjota) - Fogão a lenha - local food (Barão de Studart avenue x Costa Barros street - Aldeota) - Peixada do Meio - Seafood ( Beira-Mar avenue, near Iate Plaza Hotel - Mucuripe) - Monte Carlo - Sandwiches, pizzas, sushis (Senador Virgílio Tavora avenue - Meireles) etc.
I love the carne-de-sol pizza... It's VERY good, and that's probably the only place in the world where you'll find it! You probably have never eaten a "tapioca"... That's a good opportunity to try one. I would suggest a carne-de-sol tapioca too. =) Leave a Comment Theme: PizzaPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Canuto de Aguiar Street, 1317Phone: (55 85) 242 7557Directions: Meireles district, near Senador Virgílio Távora avenue.

by CactusJim This is the best seafood restaurant in Fortaleza. My in-laws have been taking me there for years. Recently it was confirmed, voted Best Seafood Restaurant in Fortaleza by Veja Magazine. Veja is a national weekly much like Time in the U.S. Anyway the food there is really good. It is run out of the guy?s house he has the seating up front and the kitchen in the back and he lives upstairs with his family. The food is great buy the service sucks, you will have to wait awhile for your food. Of course it is hot and there is no air conditioning, he did spring for a few fans a few about a year ago.
We always get one fish with the cheese sauce and one fish with coco-nut sauce and split it between 6 people. One dish is big enough to feed 2 people easily with rice and potatoes. This one took a little longer to discover, but once I found it I was hooked! They have the best sandwich in town. They have all kinds of tasty breads and cakes but they make a killer hot beef sandwich. The area is very nice, probably the nicest area of the city and there are a lot a beautiful shops close by. The restaurant is always very clean, the staff friendly, and the experience good.
The hot beef sandwich, unfortunately it is a little expensive, and the sandwich is pretty small. That being said, it is the best sandwich in town. Oh yeah, the clowns from Veja voted it the best sandwich in town... what are these guys following me around? This is the typical North Eastern dish that has become popular throughout Brazil in recent years. That being said, the best place to get this dish is still in the North East. Some restaurants have it on the menu. You will just have to ask and keep your eyes open. This dish was prepared by mea Sogra Dona Goretti. It is in the top 5 foods that you need to have while your in Fortaleza. It consists of beef, sausage, beans, and rice. It is slow cooked or cooked in a pressure cooker and served piping hot. I like to spice mine up with a little hot sauce. Ummmmm!
Fejoada do Dona Goretti Leave a Comment Theme: LocalAddress: Keep your eyes open for Fejoada on the menu.Directions: 70 % of all the restaurants here in Fortaleza have Fejoada especially on Saturdays.

Senor Firmino with some fresh carangaju by CactusJim, 2 more photos This is a "barraca do praia" it is a typical restaurant on the beach here in Cear?. This one is good, located at Praia do Futuro beach just off Santos Dumont Avenue. You can eat your crab or your fish in the restaurant or under the shade of a palm covered table right on the beach. The waiters will get to you no matter where you sit. Agua de Coco is a must and is the best deal too (R$1.00) The Crab (Carengaju) is a must try for a first time visitor. For a good dinner they serve a very good Fried fish with all the fixin?s. This Barraca does have it?s own security, but like everywhere in Brazil leave your valuables at home and keep your money and camera out of sight. Like Seinfeld said the wallet in the shoe bit is not impenetrable to a beach wise thief.
The crab is good, but it is sooooooo much work for the amount of meat that you get. Of course one of my all time favorite foods is King Crab from the North Atlantic, there is a world of difference in the tastle and the size of these crabs in Cear?. The shrimp pastel is great for an entrada. The Fried fish dinner is great for an entree. Take a cab, and like everyone else on VT has mentioned leave your expensive stuff at home. It´s packed on Thursday night and Sunday morning.

Fortaleza is well served with nice restaurants, you can find from great sushi bars to wonderful italian food. But my suggestions are if you like japanese food go either to Kabuki or to Moyashi, but if you are a meat person you eat a great barbecue for about USD10 (for to people) at 'Picanha do Assis'. And I couldn't leave out the best Italian restaurant in town 'Familia Giulliano'. You are going to find that food in Fortaleza is not expensive (specially because of the dollar high rates that you can get). Don't forget to go to small tipical restaurants where you can also find great food and try Fortaleza's specialty - sea food! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Oh my Gosh... Where am I going to start from?? If you have a healthy appetite, Fortaleza IS THE PLACE to be. First of all, you have to decide what kind of food you want to eat. Well, in my opininon, you can get great Japanese/Chinese food at Moyashi (by the way, I'm not just saying that because the owner is my best friend). Well, after the Japanese food, what about some 'baiao de dois' from Colher de Pau? And what about the sea food? Fortaleza is definetly the place to be if you want to try wonderfull sea food. Also, a lot of barbicue and 'feijoada'. Also, there is some pretty nice cafes!! Most of the restaurants in Fortaleza have a very delightfull environment. Some of them have live music playing, some of them have karaoke. There is always something 'happy' going on. Usually most of the people enjoy the athmosphere. If you like meat, you should try one of the "Rodizios". Rodizios are restaurants where you get all you can eat meat, and you get a variaty of YUMMY meats! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by SoccerGirl09 With a rich food diversity, Fortaleza offers everything, from regional dishes to international cuisine. The typical food reflects the strong traces related to the popular culture and the influence of the settlers. The most notable are baião de dois, carne-de-sol paçoca and of couse, seafood. The most traditional dish is peixada, composed of fish stewed in vegetable souce and pirão (manioc flour and fish sauce cream). From the countryside, comes carne-do-sol with paçoca and cassava, French beans, black pudding and stewed mutton. The local aperitif is cachaça, made from sugar-cane one of the region's principal products, with several locally produced brands known throughout the country. The richness of tropical fruits is also traditionally known. The weather and the quality of the soil are favorable to the abundant growth in this region, turning fruit culture into an important business activity, one of the state's main export products. The main main ones are sugar apple, jack, sapodilla fruit, murucy fruit. hog plum, melon and acerola fruit. From these fruits, other homemade and industrialized products are obtained, such as juices, ice-creams, sweets, cajuina (regional beverage), cashew nuts, very appreciated not only in Brazil but in other countries as well. Mario's restaurant in Canoa Quebrada. I don't remember anything but Marinus; the Dutch restaurant owner asking me if I'd fancy a steak with gorgonzola sauce. Normally I do not miss any fooditems at home, but gorgonzola sauce.... Leave a Comment Theme: Other
