STREET MARKET WITH MARCONE: THIS IS MY GREAT ASSISTANT
Marcone Mother's lives close to this market, and he took me there to buy some spices for one of our meals. Thanks to him I found out what it could be simply perfect for your trip in Brazil.
BARGAINS, COLOURFUL PEOPLE, DIFFERENT SMELLS AND MANY IMPRESSIVE THINGS THEY SELL.
Thanks to Marcone I could find such an interesting place in São Luis where the people go shopping in one of the pooerest part of the town!
What to buy: This neighborhood of Joao paulo is not part of the turism activity, this is where you can be in touch with real local life. And for sure you will find many interesting things to buy, everything there is unique!
marcone is one of my best friends and really expert in Maranhão's State!
What to pay: You can buy many things there with very few money!
STREET MARKET - VERY EXOTIC: FEIRA DO BARATEIRO
It is hard to explain what sort of Market it is. At this FEIRINHA you can buy food, you can buy exotic herbs and teas, you can buy clothes, you can buy anything you imagine for very cheap prices. it is even cheap for brazilians, and one morning there is a cool reason for you to spend some hours in touch with local life!
What to buy: I took this picture in the fishermen side, where you will find all sort of ocean fish, you can buy it very fresh...JUST REMEMBER...MARANHÃO STATE HAS THE BIGGEST COAST LINE OF THE COUNTRY, IT IS MORE THAN 800 KM OF DESERT AND WILD BEACHES!
It is one of the places where you can buy fish, very cheap.
It is an absolutely local place, it is located right in the outskirts of the city where very few outsiders dare to go. The neighborhood is JOAO PAULO, it stands on the east paert of the city close to the very poor villages of Alemanha and Monte Castelo!
What to pay: with a hundred dollars you will shop as a millionaire
