Getting to Ponta de Pedras was a combination of boating and walking. I made it with a local guide. Boat trip took about 40 minutes. Then it was an hour long walk to a final destination. A trail lead us through the rainforest and I was attracted by varied scenery.

Ponta de Pedras (meaning Point of Stones, named by some gigantic stones) is a small village of fishermen along the river that has a beautiful beach. We took a long bath and then continued discovering the area.

Before leaving the beach we stoped in the village for a drink. Cold coconut water was a perfect choice!!

Pindobal is a settlement of stilted houses along the river Tapajós. A beach there is semi-deserted. You will probably see some local people, especially children playing in the river.

Pindobal is lying about 8 km from Alter do Chão and it's the most wide point of river Tapajós (nearly 14 km). It can be reached by car or by boat.
