Rafain Show: A nightlife tip or a tourist trap?

    This place is a really huge restaurant, with a very good buffet, and a stage where a "latin" show is performed; I do not mean it is a tourist trap, but it is the typical place just for tourists... I found the show pretty decadent, although it is quite spectacular.
    Anyway, the food is really good, with a large variety of dishes.

    Este lugar es un restaurante realmente enorme, con un muy buen buffet, y un escenario en donde tiene lugar un show "latino"; no quiero decir que es una trampa para turistas, pero es el típico lugar sólo para turistas... Encontré el espectáculo un poco decadente, aunque es bastante vistoso.
    De todos modos, la comida es relmente buena, con una gran variedad de platos.

    The best thing about this place is that it's located in a spot that, I imagine, the locals think is the center of the world. The main avenue of Foz do Iguacu is really the ONLY place where you'll find some nightlife. In good weather like I had when I was there, everyone will be sitting outside. They have decent beer and decent sandwiches, but you really come here for the scene, not the food.

    One day I shall go there at night,around 3am perhaps and sit and listen for a long time and be back at the hotel for breakfast

    If you want to go to what locals call "barzinho", a place to sit down, drink and eat something, without loud music or dancing floors, this is the place for you. You can just relax with your friends, drink some "Chope" (cold beer served in long glass - ask for the best brands: Antarctica, Brahma or Skol) and see local people before they go to Tass Night Club.
    If you want to eat something, I recomend the 'Escondidinho' or the 'Porcao de Picanha Acebolada".

    There is no special requirements, so you can dress almost whatever you want. Just do not use chileans (wear at least sneakers).

    • Bier Kastell is a lively German-style beer garden that sells good beer (chopp) along with German-style sausage and other lights snacks. It's located on Av. Jorge Schimmelpfeng which is the main street for bars and night clubs in Foz do Iguacu.

    • Not much night life in this area, but we were able to meet up with some of the Argentinian Border Soldiers - and after quite a few drinks - ended up having a ball.

    • Lots of locals, good atmosphere, cover charge is R$20-30.

    Casual, no pants for men.

    • If you want to go where all locals go for a dancing and drinking, with safety, this is the place. It is downtown, where all other night life spots are (social circuit).

    Avoid jeans and sneakers, although you can use them, but you will feel and be treated as a stranger. Use social sport style (non-jeans pants and shoes).
