from a Postcard/Gralha Azul, clever bird by pepples46 Gralha Azul ( blue jay ).. State Bird of Parana and protected by Law. many people believe, Gralha Azul picks the seed out of the pine- cones and planting them, the bird pouches the seed in his/her grob and plants it for a time of need in a manner humans could be proud of, just the right depth and neatly covered, when the time is right and the old Gralha has forgotten...the seeds start to sprout.and a new Pines Brasilensis... Pinhao or Pinheiro=Auracaria angustifiola is born. there is more in the next chapter the Gralha Azul is on the list of endagered spezies. Leave a Comment

Unique, Unmistakable shape of Parana "Pine" by glabah This odd looking "pine" tree (which isn't actually a pine) is the symbol of the state of Parana in a number of different ways. Of course, it shares the name with the state of Parana. As the tree gets older, the lower branches drop off so that the tree does not carry any unnecessary dead wood. The top branches fan out to grab what light they can. Thus, the tree develops this unique shape.
