Another favorite in Londrina is Tia Nega (translated literally this means 'Black Aunt').
As with all Brazilian restaurants, the price is very reasonable. You really can't find a better value, especially not state-side!
My absolute favorite on their menu is the 'Bife a Cavalo' (steak a-la-horse). It is so named not because it is horse meat, (which it isn't), but because it is enough food to feed a horse.
It consists of two file mignon steaks, two fried eggs, rice, and french fries as well as a side salad. A favorite of mine is Galpao Nelore, traditional Brazilian Churrasco (grilled meat).
The atmosphere is quite laid back, and the restaurant itself is laid out like a spanish-style ranch house. There are wide-open verandas and an airy, spacious interior. The roof is of red tile supported by wooden beams which are visible inside-very rustic. For the price, there is no better value around!
This restaurant as all Churrascarias, serves their food rotisserie (rodizio) style. What this means is that they bring around all kinds of meat, and you select the cuts you want, all for one low price. There is every cut of beef, pork and chicken you can imagine. You start off your meal by visiting the buffet table, where you can get all of your traditional Brazilian side-items: rice and beans, vegetables, salad., as well as fried or grilled fish and desserts. Once you have returned to your table, the witers begin bringing the meat around. There is everyting from file mignon to chicken hearts, (which are quite good, all of which are grilled on over a wood fuelled flame. I particularly reccomend the Cupim, which is actually the hump of the Brahma cow. It is the most tender, flavorful cut of meat I have ever eaten!
