souvenirs from Cataratas!
The souvenir shop at the end of the path but also the gift shop at the main building sell many souvenirs like magnets, glasses, tshirts, caps, wallets all decorated with the animals of the area etc If you like stuff like “I love Cataratas!” this is your place….
only a few places
The shopping is limited in the Iguassu area outside of the main visitor's center and the visitors center at the falls. The only other shopping is either at your hotel or a few roadside stands just outside of the park.
Various electornics stores: Parguay - Ciudad del Este
When you are in the park you are close to Paraguay's second largest city, Ciudad del Este, a mecca for cheap electronics. Prices are generally low, but be careful and aware that some items may be factory reconditioned.
The trip from Brazil to Paraguay is interesting and bizarre. There is a bridge connecting the two countries and a constant stream of motorcycle taxis bravely split the lanes between traffic.
Porto Canoas: Semiprecious Stones
There are a couple of gift shops at the National Park; one of them is located at the Visitor's Center, and the other one, at Porto Canoas. This one has a jewerly where you can find local semiprecious stones (quartz, amethyst, agatha).
I took the picture from the web.
What to buy: There are jewels, sculptures and crude stones.
Hay joyas, esculturas y piedras en bruto.
What to pay: A lot of money!!! $$$$$$$$$
¡Un montón de dinero!!!$$$$$$$
Various: Nothing exceptional
There are a few souvenir shops in the park where you can buy postcards, knick-knacks and clothes among other things. I bought a cool shirt that says "Las Cataratas" on it and it only cost about $12 USD.
In Foz do Iguacu, head to Avenida Brasil for plenty of decent shopping options. Don't expect Beverly Hills, but you can find most of the basics.
The other popular, though a bit dangerous, option is to head to Ciudad del Este in Paraguay.
Crossing the friendship bridge to Paraguay: Want to have fun ?
You go there by bus. The trip is not that long from the Cataras Hotel but lots of trafic.
It's a huge street market where you can spend a whole day there. They sell about anything you would think of. Lots of good imported or .....whatever....
What to buy: Brazil is known for its most beautiful and rarest colorful butterflies in the world.
When we went for our trip on the river to the fall we saw so many. One drop a piece of banana on the sandy shore and hundred of them rushed to eat. It was Incredible.
If you really need to Shop: Town has some shopping
There are a lot of shops in town including desiner stores such as Hugo Boss as well as La Coste. However the selection is very limited as the number of tourists who visit Igassue to shop are far and few. Eveyone comes to see tha falls. So the sovineer shops at the falls are better to buy stuff.
I eneded up buying a sweater as it got very cold and I forgot to take one from home. Otherwise just stic to some basic sovineers to remember you trip and don't bother to attempt serious shopping.
What to buy: Some Soviners to remember your trip.
What to pay: Anything between 2 $ to 2,000 $ + for expensive semi precious gems.
