As highway BR 369 is a fairly important tourist route for those going to Foz do Iguacu, it should not be surprising that some cities feature quite a number of street vendors advertising their wares to those passing by.

Peabiru is one of the cities where a fairly significant number of people have set up street vending booths to sell various things. These range from junky pirated goods and CDs to what appear to be very well made toys, artwork local crafts and even cookware.

    The variety is quite astounding.

What to buy: Aim for the unique local crafts and avoid the junky stuff and pirated goods.

What to pay: If you want a good deal, be prepared to wander from booth to booth as though you had all the time in the world, and talk to various booth owners about their prices (and families and living conditions). You can not expect to be able to talk anyone down in price if it seems as though you need to leave in the next few minutes.
