Near the highway that runs between Curitiba and Londrina you will find a state park called Vila Velha - the Old Village. The park contains a number of large rock formations that have been carved by the weather over time to produce a number of eccentric shapes. This state park is reasonably well known all over Brazil, and my first exposure to it was in tourist advertisements in 1998.However, I have never had the opportunity to visit it.As there continues to be little documentation about this state park in the VirtualTourist database, I have added this tip that has pointers to the various information about this park, in the hopes that eventually someone will write more about it - and maybe one of these days I will actually visit there and write something about it.Vila Velha is not in the VT database as such, nor are a number of smaller cities in this part of Brasil. Brazil offers the best panoramic view from across the river. Time your visit to the park on a sunny morning and you will be treated with a splendid view of rainbow over the falls. The arch of rainbow will follow you throughout the 550m of trail running parallel to the falls. At the end of the walk, you'll come face to face with the Floriano Falls, right next to the survenior shop. It is so close that you can almost streatch out your hand and feel the impact of the powerful gush of water tumbling down from above. Don on your rain coat and head towards the arch of rainbow at the far reach of the catwalk. The sprays of the fall is as good as it is raining. The rainbow gets bigger and more vivid as you get closer to the end of the catwalk. And when you finally reach the end, standing at the edge of the catwalk looking down at the drop of the fall to the river, an almost full-circled blazing...
