Take any better restaurant and ask for Hula Hula. It's made of coconut milk, rhum and is served in decoreted Ananas.
Favorite Dish: I tried to find the recipe of Hula Hula, but no success. If you find it, please send it to me, I add the information here. But be carefull, there are Gin-Orange based recipes, and that's not the Brasilian Hula-Hula, I think.
After some years studies:
1 1/2 oz gin
3/4 oz orange juice
1/4 tsp powdered sugar
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass.
This is something I passed when roaming in the areas. You can find this kind of one-man-one-drink restaurants every now and then, but this is not a recommendation to use them. I might made a mistake, probably next time I have one.
Favorite Dish: If you are brave enought, take a drink or two!
Fast food pizzeria in downtown. Self service appetizer table and pizzas varies from small to extra large. Medium is quite suitable for normal hunger. And of course you can take the rest with you in doggy bag.
Favorite Dish: Try for example Frango catupiri or camarao catupiri.
Excellent service, excellent food and reasonable prices. We visited some 14 restaurants in the Ponta Negra area and this was ranked the Best.
If you think about dinner for two person:
- drinks for appetizer
- self service appetizer table
- fish or meat main course
- bottle of good red wine
- desert with Ferreiras
- a couple of expressos
for about 60 euros.
Favorite Dish: Reasonable, isn't it. Absolutely you have to take the appetizer table. You can eat it with eyes and the taste is fantastic.
If you like seafood (specially shrimp), this restaurant is right for you! They have a seafood rodízio with at least 15 different dishes for you to try.
If you go there with someone who doesn't like seafood, they also have meat dishes (and a juicy, tasty picanha).
Nice looking restaurant. Serves typical food from Brazil's Northeast region, including the famous "carne de sol" (sun-dried beef). Last time I was there (April 2010) they had a special promotion: from mondays to thursdays, the price of "rodízio" for ladies is 18,90$ (while for men is 26,90$). In "rodízio" you can try a great variety of local food, from "carne de sol" to "picanha" (rump cover) and many other kinds of meat, beans, "farofa", "carne de sol" risotto, roasted curd cheese and a lot more.
Sometimes the "carne de sol" is tender and tasty, sometimes it's tough and kind of dry. I guess you have to be lucky!
Favorite Dish: Carne de sol! :) It's salty and tasty.
Hi price and you have to pay extra for everything , snacks that you not ordered, the music etc.
I ordered lamb chops and told the waiter I wanted them rare, they came overcocked. Not eatable. My wifes lamb filets were perfect so we shared hers. I sent my dish back to the kitchen and complained. The headwaiter was very rude and told me, in no uncertain terms that I would have to pay for my chops.
They offer basically the typical meat at the northeast of Brazil: carne de sol. Really good and very soft.
Service is also very good.
In Natal you will find two restaurants, one at Via Costeira e the other at Ponta Negra.
In my opinion the best of Natal. Excelent service and delicious food.
The decoration of the restaurant is also very nice. There are always a lot of people there. So if you don't want to wait, just come a little bit earlier or later than the dinner time.
A good advantage of this restaurant is that they offer a free transfer service from your hotel to the restaurant and back. So if you don't have car to go there, this can be an advantage.
In terms of food, I would say...average. Prices are also at the same level of good restaurants in Natal.
All over Natal and large parts of Brazil you will find places that specialize in camaraos. These are shrimps - and they are served in a multitude of ways. Ask people you meet where to go.
Also try the rodizios - here you get all kinds of meat, first of all beef, and in unlimited supply. It's completly wild how much you can eat. The portions are enormous. Feel free to enjoy :)
Tabua de Carne is a nice local retsaurant just off the Praia Shopping in Ponta Negra. This place specializes in meats (especially, carne do sol) and its prices are ridiculously low.
Favorite Dish: Carne do sol - this is a nice file, weighing approximately 800 grams, and it literally melts in your mouth - it's that juicy and tender!
One of the best restaurants with regional food from Rio Grande do Norte is the "Mangai".It was voted one of the 10 best restaurants in Brazil from various magazines there. This restaurant is a little bit far from Ponta Negra beach, more in the centre of the city (best is to take a taxi to there) but sure worth a visit!
It serves wonderful food in buffet/self service style, so you can taste all the delicious plates and dishes you want for a relative cheap price!
Especialities: regional and self-service food combined!
Adress: Av. Amintas Barros , 3300 - Lagoa Nova

You must try this good brazilian drink when visiting Brazil!
It is sold everywhere and it is very cheap (about 50 cent - 1 Euro/$)
Favorite Dish: CAIPIRINHA
1 lime quartered
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 shot of cachaça
1/2 Cup of ice cubes with water
Place the lime and sugar in the bottom of a glass.
Using the handle of a wooden spoon, crush and mash
the limes. Pour the liqueur and ice. Stir well.
This is a summer drink to appreciate before eating.
Decorate the glass with a slice of lime.
The Hula Hula drink is made of an pineapple. They mix the pineapple fruitmeat with different tastes. You can get it with alcohol, or without.
An suggestion is to chere this drink with someone, because it is qutie big...and if you drink a Hula Hula alone you maybe dont want to see a Hula Hula in a while...a least that was mine experience...:-)
