around 10am, everybody was yearning for a cupper and some rolls..or just a cafezinho..small black, sweet and strong!! it was always a 'local' meeting place, people from the office, the shops and like us, coming from the countryside...it was great!!
Favorite Dish: Breakfast..was a real hungabuster!
Rio Grande do Sul is as big as the State of Texas, has a good roadsystem but Public Transport is sparse always was. renting a car might not be cheap but has its merrits to go where ever you thinkis an interesting place. like Teutonia and the Lago Harmonia....Lake. around 100km from Novo Hamburgo.
I don't know any peticular shop, has changed anyway.but Shoeshops and Leather items are in abudance, shop around and take your pick.

What to buy: when you buy leather items you can't go wrong

in this part of the Vale dos Sinos its 800m above sea level
seen from the Road coming from Novo Hamburgo..clearly visible the two brothers, after Dois Irmaos is named. from here you have access to the mountanous area around Novo Hamburgo and the Vale dos Sinos, take the detour its a very pretty drive ...the pic has been send to me by my friend who lives here, just to make me a little homesickmore
colonial beginnings displayed at the Museum in Dois Irmaos, 12km from Novo Hamburgo, worth a look. like all the New World Countries, the Beginnings where hart and tough. Forest and Bush had to be cleared to make fertil fields for the crobs to be planted. Roads had to be build, the elements battled. how they did that all without the heavy Maschinery...more
