BOAT TRIP,MY FAVOURITE!!

    Go to Porto Alegre Port and take one of the boats:you can make a trip with in a boat for groups or,if you or any of your friends have a skipper license,you can take your own boat,together with the maps for your safety and comfort.
    My friends from Boston visited us last June,and as one of them,Kevin,had a skipper license,we had our own boat,it was fantastic to see the city from the river!A brand new way of looking at the city,the trip took us a whole day,as we wanted to see the sunset on the boat!

    If you take the boat trip organised by the municipality of Porto A legre,they will take you
    to " Pintada " isle and the other isles around,from the City Port,and the price will be a donation,a package of food for the natives (yes,that's the situation!).
    An extra of 10 reais will be paid for those who wants to join this trip on board of the famous "Cisne Branco "(white swan),because the boat is a bit more fancy.

    It's one of the attractions when you take the boat,many years ago,the inhabitants of this isle supplied fishes,vegetables and milk for the city.
    Today,you can find here very fancy millionaires houses side by side with the poverty of the natives!

    THE LAKE IS A " HOUSE " FOR MANY RIVERS!!

    Lake Guaiba receives the water of Jacui River ,Cai River,Sinos River and Gravatai River.
    In the isles created by this complex,was created,in 1976,the "Delta Do Jacui " National Park,with 28 isles (most isolated ),with a special unique fauna & flora!
    Some isles are connected to the city by the bridge,some,only by boat!

    On its banks (72km) around the city,people come to admire the famous Porto Alegre sunset,winter and summer.
    It's the main meeting point for sundays,as anyway,after saturday parties,nobody wakes up before afternoon,than that's the way we meet to talk about last night funs!!

    IF YOU REALLY,BUT REALLY HAVE TIME,TRY TO VISIT THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OLD CAMPUS,LOCATED(AROUND 11 HISTORICAL BUILDINGS..)AT SARMENTO LEITE STREET.IT'S QUITE EASY TO SEE YOU ARE THERE,IT'S A MAGIC VISIT TO THE HISTORY OF THE CITY!DON'T MISS THE MEDICINE SCHOOL BUILDING,IN FRON OF FARROUPLILHA'S PARK,IT'S MY FAVORITE!A PICTURE OF THE LOBBY OF THE BUILDING!

    Take a boat trip and see a very special view of the city..from the river!The boats departure from the central port or from the old gas plant,there are trips every hour,it's quite cheap and the boats are ok,safe ones.There is a very fancy boat called CISNE BRANCO(white swan),it departes only from the central port and i don't have the hours.This one in the picture we took from the gas plant.

    USINA DO GASOMETRO(GAS PLANT)CULTURAL CENTER:Situated on the banks of the Guaiba river,the building housed the city's thermoelectric power plant till 1974.Nowadays,it has become one of the most important cultural centers in Rio Grande Do Sul.It has a 117 meters chimney,and was designated State heritage in 1983.

    Canela City:About two hours from Porto Alegre(by car). Swiss chalets, apfelstrudel, and even snow, are some of the features of quiet, but intense Canela.

    Dificult to call Guaiba " Lake Guaiba ",after growing up with the idea it was a river!
    But,it's a lake!!
    Its waters meet the Atlantic in Rio Grande,the last south point of this state.
