Summer is a hell,so wet and hot,you wish only to get back home and be nacked or go to the first swiming pool on your way!!
You can buy almost everything you wish in the pharmacies without a prescription,but nowadays,the Health Ministry got more hard on this issue,and many times they will ask you for a medical prescription,finally!!
Mostly I recomend medicines for cold,as the weather here in the winter nakes the most improvedvacinations a joke!
This picture is pretty old,and show you how the city was almost submerged by the Guaiba lake during the rain seasons,in the winter.
Actually,it happened also in the summer.
This inundations were quite frequent here as I heard from some locals,the epidemic diseases runned those days because of the inundations,and all was a mess,some inhabitants have many stories of those times!

Althought,the summer can be extremely hot,and if you plann to go to our coast(pictures can be found in the travelogue)than,the regular beach clothes are ok..
Storms are frequent,summer or winter..take a strong umbrella in consideration,even with the danger you can fly with it,the storm winds are extremely strong!
In Brazil,unfortunately,you can buy almost EVERYTHING in the drugstore without a medical recipe!It's easy but was supose to be illegal..but..
Than take medicines only if you need a specific one as you can buy a similar here without any problems or explanations..it's a paradise for hypochondrics!
In the winter one may need medicines for flu,in the summer maybe for the sunburns..
Your usual camera,but in the winter the sunlight is not strong,the days are very dark!
Bring a big smile and a lot of energy..and a pair of good legs as Porto Alegre has many hills,even in the central areas.. Leave a Comment

Brazil is not all tropical. June to August can get quite cold here in PoA. I've never seen it below 0 c but close. If you take a trip to the mountains it'll be a little below on some days. So warm clothes for this season!
You can get most things in the city.

the South can be cold..wintertime from July/Aug.warm clothing recommended, good shoes & weathergear*
everything can be bought in P.A. for medical supply and medication ask youre G.P.*
take minimum supply from home, the rest buy here
depense what you prefer..see my Brazil Page*
try to learn some portugues sentence....they always come handy. in this part of Brasil, english is a little on the thin site. you might get lucky with german or italian...spanish is often understood,but portugues would give you a little edge Leave a Comment
